OT: how would this do for games?

Exactly what he said. When it comes to cheap PCs, you have to look at stuff like the RAM's actual speed, and what graphics device it has. Most cheap PCs use motherboards that do not have PCI-Express slots. I think the default RAM speed nowadays is 667 Mhz, so not that big of a deal now that I think about it. I know they go up to 1066 Mhz as far as I know.

All in all, terrible choice for a gaming PC.
 
Its not too bad for the price, decent video card and it has almost max RAM for 32 bit Windows. Vista it not nearly as good as XP is yet, but its made a lot of improvements since its release. What kind of games are you wanting to play and what peformance level are you wanting?

not sure what games yet, probably the latest ones out. i might just get the same one as my dad, which is a hp 9605 or something like that.
