New Recording Computer Day!!!

Hey fellas! I was expecting a delivery of my new mac pro on the 12th, but the courier showed up just now with it! Ohhhh the excitement!

What struck me was how big the box is.....I dunno if it's the same across the pond, but the box is HUGE! yeah, i get a bit excited.

The only complete bitch is that I ordered an apogee ensemble, akg k701's and the samsung 24inch monitor to come on the 12th! THE TORTURE!

Hope everyone's having a wonderful day....

Sounds cool man, are you setting up a home studio?

I will have to hit you up with my band for cheap recording as you are pretty local to me by the looks of it.

the home studio is coming this year, but next year a buddy and I are moving into an acousticly treated unit that can actually accommodate a band lol. Semi - pro results are expected (if everything goes to plan).

So I will definetely let you know, more than happy to help fellow rig talkers!

Sounds sweet man. I am kinda spoilt in that I have an amazing local studio near by that is very reasonably priced.

good to hear it, the main reason for me and a mate openin this one up is because there are practically none in the area that are reasonably priced.

Coming from gigging with the guy who im setting up with, there are some amazing local bands up here that cannot get their music out there due to there not being anywhere to record. After announcing to various places that a mid range studio is opening in 2009, we've had around 5 bands call, along with 2 solo (vox and acoustic) artists call for details. Most are prepared to wait, which is amazing!

I was gonna go to alchemea in london, but considering their 36 week term costs near enough 10 grand, I really didn't see the point when I had the perfect opportunity to set up my own studio. Plus thanks to a *cough* "educational discount" from my old college, I got alot off the mac.

Sounds like an awesome plan, and if you have a customer base well worth doing.

Did you ever do that blues band? was that you?

yeah, that was me. It's actually just getting started, we played a gig last weekend along with a couple of cheesy covers, which went down incredibly well. I borrowed my old guitar teachers fiesta red strat for a couple of the slower songs, which was great and really inspired me to get one. Which I now cant afford after dropping 7 grand on studio gear! lol!

The drummer laid down soem stuff to the tunes a few days beforehand (awesome drummer, I might add). same with the bassist, who gets an unbelievable bass tone (not that I know much). Hopefully during this christmas we can get together and lay down some tracks. Think of it as black stone cherry but softer and more blues orientated.

Oh, and I cannot WAIT to record the DSL. It sounds killer at the moment, I realised its more of a rock/classic metal amp than a modern "heavy ass guitar tone" amp.

Congrats! I've been real happy with my Mac- Pro, Had it for almost 2 years with no problems, it has been absolutley bulletproof. Good luck on your studio project, That is a big bite to bite off for sure. Almost everything I have done in mine, I would do differently now that I have spent some time in it. I thought guitar stuff was a black hole, but the studio thing wins, hands down! Go to some big studio's and get all the info you can. Room setups are hard to fix, once your in them recording. Good Luck bro! - Jim

Certainly agree with you there. One of the best quotes that i've heard is -

"Get addicted to heroin. Its much cheaper than the studio addiction!"

Oh, one thing I forgot to add is that we're adding a plaque on the wall......

"if you have to play with a knob....play with your own!!!"
