The damn critters were nawing on the beams in the attic last night keeping me awake. These guys must be over 30lbs. I've got a new mission in life...get rid of the vermin. I'm going to get a couple of live trap&release traps tonight, throw in some fresh fish for bait and then release the bastards on the other side of the Delaware C&D Canal. :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:

I checked with Delaware Fish and Game and found out that you can trap raccoons on your property any time you want...except Sundays. I don't know, maybe their in church or something?

As a side note, bullfrog season in Delaware is from May 1 though Sept 30. Be careful though, your only allowed to keep 12.

Do not corner them, all I have to say about this.

Yeah, I know. I saw a TV program about raccoon removal. One of the raccoons was chasing the removal guy all around the lawn. The damn thing was making all kinds of growling, snarling hissing noises. It sounded like a Tasmanian Devil on roids. The poor removal guy was scared as hell.

Thanks for the warning.

That one may have been rabid, if they have an escape route they will take it and yeah they growl good enough to scare ya a bit :D

If you trap one let it sit in the cage for awhile to mellow out cause for the first hour or so that coon is going to be pissed.

Actually, it was the mother of five or so little ones. The removal guys were using the babies to lure the mother out of the attic. It worked but sure was scary as hell.

I had them in my attic. You can probably lure the mom out with a trap baited with marshmellows, the trapper told me they need the sugar to make milk when pregnant.
FWIW, you can probably make a homeowners claim for the damage, the exclusions usually only apply to vermin.

Send that pooch in your avatar in after em'. :D

She would be willing, however, she weighs about 25lbs. I think one of the raccoons I saw probably weighs in at about 35lbs. Besides, I worry about rabies. :scared:

I chased a raccoon out of my yard around 3am because he was eating my garbage. I picked up the mess and stuff starts hitting me.. the damn thing was throwing my OWN garbage at me from a tree.

The saga continues. I bought two traps designed specifically to catch raccoons. There's even a picture of a raccoon on the box. I baited, as specified in the instructions, and set the traps. I came back half an hour later and found one of the traps had been triggered...NO raccoon and no bait left. The other trap had not been triggered but the bait was also gone. I rebaited the traps and checked them this morning. Neither trap was triggered...no bait left. The bastids are taking the bait but avoiding getting trapped some how. I plan on suspending the bait by a string inside the trap to see if that works.

I determined! :gethim:
