I just got a 4x12 mesa cab and I want to lift it off the floor because I would like the speakers closer to my ears and with it being on the ground in a wood floor room I have more low end than I could ever need.

I have looked into it a bit and there are only 2 options I can think of so far and thats using a head case or a riser from Auralex.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Two square plastic milk crates. Black ones if you can choose.
Find them behind 7 Eleven's and restaurants.

It's rock n roll, no one cares or will notice. Black boxes on a dark stage are an after thought. That's all they'll look like.

I here ya, this is for me at home I don't do shows... I guess that when I walk in the room and look at my rig I take great pride in it.
Looks aren't as important as tone, but it has some importance to me as I am a collector as well.

I thought about the milk crates but I would rather something a little more solid/safe/less ghetto. \:D/
But seriously thanks for the idea :)

if the look of milk crates bothers you why not just wrap them in a bed sheet

A horse mat does a great job of separating the cab from the ground. You can buy storage containers similar or different than milk crates in many places. No matter what you place the cabs on it will effect the tone you hear. Different material of what you put it on will sound different. Plastic usually does not resonate as much as wood.

The voicing of the cab is designed around it having contact with the ground. This is why many hollow stages sound very bad. It will effect the whole voice .... not just the bass.

Ive got a diamond plate truck box that i put under my uberkab sometimes. Its the smaller type, without the the overhanging wing thingies. Looks pretty decent for $20 bucks (used).

I use the Auralex Great Grammas... definitely helps! It only raises like 2-3 inches, but really cuts down on the the rumbling lowend. You still hear the low-end of course, but it doesn't vibrate through the ground so badly.

Ok. Let's clarify. You don't gig and only play at home and you are having a hard time hearing a 4x12 so you need to lift it up??
Is this correct, or am I missing something here?

:) I was thinking the same thing .... I live by the airport & can hear mine fine. But some people prefer the speakers up high....
Personally I like a full stack .... but prefer them side by side on the ground.

Yeah me too. ^^^
But otherwise, I like my slant Trad. size sitting on the floor (carpet)
On casters and the top speakers are pointing too much at my face.
Without casters they point more at my chest. Perfect.

You could try standing further back from the cabinet if raising the cabinet is just to get more direct sound from the speakers.

No I don't have a hard time hearing it.
If you stand to the side of you cab, does it sounds as good? Doesn't it sound better when the speakers line up with your ears?
Kinda like the same thing as listing to a recorded guitar, the mic is aiming at the speaker not above it.
So, I can here it, but i'd like it to be higher so the speakers are closer to my ears. (Just a personal taste)
I could stand further back if I had more room to stand back.
Lastly I am trying to get the cab up higher to run next to my 2nd cab.

Here's a picture
I am trying to get the both cabs around the same height
