If Nuno can play with Rihanna these days, then Jake E Lee should be able to find something to promote...

If? Nuno doesn't need to play with Rihanna. He put the Extreme tour on hold TO play with Rihanna because it is a ridiculously cushy gig, were he gets to travel, get paid huge sums of cash and have fun without having the headache of worrying about all the bullshit that he would have to with either Extreme or his other bands all while doing what he wants. Rhianna is a fan and loves rock guitar. He is friends with dudes in her band. He gives up nothing for the gig and gains everything. He still gets to do Extreme and opens of himself and the band to a wider audience.

You would think more guitarists would do what Nuno is doing
hell sure beats working a day job when you can do something you like doing and get paid for it.

I think a situation like that would be great for Jake by allowing himself to earn a good living and hopefully allow time and funds for better side projects

All Rihanna admittedly did live was copy her friend Fefe Dobson's live sound approach

You would...however, most don't have Nuno's position in life. He doesn't need the gig. He doesn't need the money, and he is super talented and can do everything. He writes, produces, sings and plays pretty much every instrument better than most people. Even Dweezil said years ago that Nuno is one of those people that is so talented that you "want to punch him in the face, " or something like that.

He wrote basically everything in Extreme and all of his bands never needed to do the reunion. They had to wait on him to be willing to do it. Even with his solo discs he could throw something like Schizophonic together on his days off in any recording studio with whatever gear was available (except his guitar) by playing all the parts. The Rhianna gig is a cake walk for him and he even said as much. I agree with you, someone in his position would have to be a moron to pass that up. Add to that, she is pretty hot and prances around in front of him all night. What more can you ask?

That's like asking if you would like to see Joe Frasier do an MMA fight. Interesting Idea, but never going to happen. Jake and Oz parted ways on horrible terms, same with Brad Gillis (Who was a walk in after Randy died) Best thing to do is to listen to the records (CD's) and remember the past fondly.

I think the passing of Ray Gillian weighed heavy on Jake.. It would be hard to do another Badlands record without Ray.. Perhaps Robert Mason could do a fine job.. But it wouldn't be the same. Ray was an amazing talent and I seen Badlands twice way back. Both records are special. Jake did one show I seen with a broken leg in a cast..how many guitarist would do that nowadays : ) Joe Holmes should've stayed.. Ozzy needs his nuts back from Sharon. Blackrain did sound a BLS record, with Zakk singing more like Ozzy! LOL. Gus is a good guitarist in his own right.. He fits Firewind better in my opinion. I don't believe thats his fault though. Zakk went from High School jock, to pretty boy shredder, to being a drunken guitarist leading a wanna be biker club fellowship without the bikes (some have bikes though..  ). I like BLS, and Mafia is my favorite BLS record. I won't be buying a leather vest and ordering my patches anytime soon though. I don't take being a fan to that level. Zakk is a tremendous player...in cleats, in spandex, spritzed up, in a kilt, or leathered up with or without a beer in his hands..  . Ozzy has no reason to be embarressed about his era with Jake...every era has some commercialized cheese to it. About Nuno..Nuno is that good.. I have no problem with him playing for Rihanna. She also prorbably pays more the Sharon Osbourne   Vito and Pizza! Is that true? :)

Jake is currently working on a solo album that is due out later this year. I hope it propels him back into the music scene full time. All though he needs to put himself in the public eye more by doing interviews, tv shows, etc... if he expects the record to do well.

Damn.... This guys just doesn't get the respect he deserves for his time win the spotlight with Ozzy. Steps in for one of the most influential guitarists of all time after his tragic death and just kicks ass... Gotta respect the guy... I just love his playing - wish he still cared to play like this...

No doubt...people seem to forget just how great he was, especially given the time period and what others were doing back then. As much as I dig Badlands, I think his chops and playing took a backseat to his songwriting by that point.

Its great to hear Jake is recording a new CD but whats still not right to me is this.
I just saw richie Kotzen 1 month ago playing in a small club and those who havent been following him, he is now an awesome blues singer/guitarist.
He is just great at what he does but the club he was playing in was with only about 100 people. These guys deserve a few thousand people to be in the crowd! This is the injustice of it all for me. Instead, the teenage pop bands are raking in the crowds and we read on the net how many millions some of them have made. If these great guitar players release new albums they have to be in a band with other famous musicians or on a big tour with other bands and obviously have some type of marketing behind them. I hope if Jake releases his CD he can put it all together and hopefully have some staying power in the spotlight.

I agree. this is specially true for Jake who avoids the media like its the plague.

I really dont blame them. The media eats and wreaks havoc on anything they get their teeth into. I definitely would like to see Jake get some good attention provided the solo cd is good though.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I read an interview with Jake where he said that he never ever wanted to play Ozzy songs again. He doesn't seem to keen on his time with Ozzy.

Media is king now. Look at new cars, you gotta be able to access your social media sites in your can now.

He is a big boy and will make his own decisions and move forward. I hope that includes some media effort. Mabe be part of a multiple band type festival tour. Hit some big cities for weekend events like we have on the regular in Atlanta. I would plunk down cash and buy the t shirt.

Long live the guitar solo

Suck it emo bitches....

I agree, Ritchie Kotzen and Jake E Lee don't get the attention they deserve. Ritchie can sing and write with the best of them. Both Ritchie shows I went to over the last few years (Key Club in LA and the Mercy Lounge in Nashville). It was like 100 to 150 people..90% guitar players and 10 % spouses! Thats sad..cause Ritchie is so much more then just a shredding guitarist. His daughter can sing pretty good to.. She could be a star with talent..if she was on Hanna Montana :D

Better lyrics, more different! guitar sounds, superior instrumentation, better arrangements, better rhythms, better bass players, better vibe, better drummers, brighter people, more energy, darker, cooler self non chick conscious women, lack of stupid pricks and football idiots, no wining that you did not make it.....

Cock rock was rightfully destroyed in the late 80ties, it was long overdue IMHO...

The reason kotzen "does not make it", stupid red neck lyrics/viedos, boring cliché bad hendrix rip offs, stupid image of your beer drinking pal, as he had a car crash in the 70ties, groundhog day since then, as interesting as fox tv....

The guitarist crowd is the lamest, narrow minded, corny, boring people you can impress, they are searching for instrument master-ship an "deserved fame" .................10000000 Chinese or Russian viola players kill typical guitar mag. guitarists............it was never about guitar solos, even in the 70ties, it is the "whole package" whole picture.....without that => wanking music.....the whole guitar hero things died in 1985, after that...............nothing

Want instrument master ship, listen to classical music, jazz......be serious, not prepared scale wanking, every evening the same, not that big deal

by the way, the above posted 85 tour of Ozzy and MSG was the reason that I picked up the guitar, but I was 15 then, no reason to neglect other forms of often superior expressions in music.

Jake was Ozzy´s best guitarist!

"the whole guitar hero things died in 1985"

I'm sure Activision would disagree with this moronic statement since they made about a billion dollars off this little video game franchise named "Guitar Hero".
Back then we learned to play actual instruments instead of pushing buttons like most of the kids today.
There was a time and place for shitty barre chord beating bands without any real musical talent....it was called the 90's and it's long gone too. Now there's a whole lot of terrible garbage that not only takes no talent to play, but all sounds exactly the same....like most of the current screamy down-tuned so called "Metal".
There's a reason bands sold out arena's in the 80's and now it takes 10-12 band "fests" to sell out the same amount of seats. Most current music is just plain lame, and the music industry is all but dead.

My view
My bibles:
First Ingwie (corny songs), Eat em Smile/Flexable, Van Halen Fair Warning...Dokken was embarrassing, boring rhythm guitar, shitty lyrics/videos/interviews, those people looked liked pimps in Germany, corny ballads (btw. Roth never made ballads, always more of a sinatra).....bad scene....never looked back...

Pushing Buttons

I I know you are american....certainly never heard of:

Do not be stupid..

Perhaps you can measure the IQ of a typical real instrument "rocker" vs electro afficiando....guess what!

You can play a dokken riff after three years guitar wanking.......copy the above mentioned electro songs, push buttons.......do it!
I´ll be there, sometimes I feel ashamed of typical guitarists, you can instantly distinguish ignorant morons if you encounter...."he is only pushing buttons..."
My guess:
Bible belt? Fly over country? 24/7 play station connoisseur?
