I use one  At first it frustrated me but after I sat down and for 10 min tweaking the knobs I got it to match my Bogner cab.

Yes - like the original 03 more - but the 04 is fine as well. If you don't need the load the 09 is fine.

How close does it sound to your cab? Any good live?

Extremely close. Running an XLR to FOH should sound fine. I haven't run it live but I did run it into a power amp so I could crank my amp head to the sweet spot and then control the volume for night time playing while people slept i the house. Headphones sounded good, sort of a half step up from the Axe II but you need something to get the palmer into a PC or to use with just headphones.

A lot of musicians use them live, Its a Palmer :D My next purchase is going to be a Torpedo Live but that will be a month or two after I recover from the Mk V and Tac15 I just bought

Wow better than Axe Fx. I am very tempted. I can see this being a great tool live once dialed in. My band has a digital desk so all presets are saved. Seems it could be better than the hit and miss of mic placement.

I had both the 03 and 04 to compare. I loved the features on the 04 more, the ability to adjust how much filter etc. Especially nice for clean. Though for distorted sound, the 03 just had something to the sound that was less mushy, and overall better to me. So I kept the 03 for awhile. I am sure it can be amp dependant as well, but I thought they had something nice with the 03, that I just don't think the 04 nailed.

nice peice and convenient for sure. Doesn't beat a mic though, I would seriously look at the torpedo solution though, that sounds much better based on the clips I have heard.

Theres one for sale locally pretty cheap. The Topredo looks good but I'd rather an AxFx for that price.

Tried the 09 again today and really liked it. Must be very amp specific because I never thought it was that great before. Really got a great tone from it.

What app do you use yours for David?

Well, this thread made me want to try it again,

So, regular set up is my Hiwatt/SLO into the Two Notes (2 wedges), or 2 Thieles (one EVM12L and one EVM SRO Alnico). But they sound a little different from each other. I get great tones from either - but they are different. And two 1x12s is no different then hauling 2 wedges. But some places require no cabs. And I have very high end wedges, so they rock.

All I did was run the palmer 09 between the amp/cab, Palmer into a Manley Pre into the wedges. The advantage here was that I could turn the amp/cab down and still turn the wedges up to hear the tones. It pretty much was dead on the same. I can set my monitor myself and not worry about how loud the cabs are. If I'm some where where they want me to turn down, I can and just turn the Manley up for my monitor.

I have a Palmer 03, Palmer 03 and the Two Notes live. If I want to save a rack space, I can just take the 09. Also, I can just keep it in the bag as a quick backup. The 09 just works with this amp/cab set up. I didn't think it matched my SLO 4x12 very well - but it really is hard to hear any difference with the Hiwatt/SLO - and this is my favorite amp now - so win/win.

Obviously, I could run it to FoH, IEMs, or into FX for W/D/W. Endless possibilities. Love the Two Notes - but if you just want a simple to the board, no tweaking unit check out the 03 or 09 (if you don't need the load).

I'm in a recording project now. Both guitarists are using the Palmer 09 (with an extra load) and we are very satisfied with the results so far. I will post something when we are done.

It's all a matter of tastes and setup.

I've tried Two Notes Torpedo Vb-101...but I've never been satisfied with the sounds.
So now my setup is Amp > palmer 04 > Duet2 > DAW > plug (Torpedo/redwirez)> monitors
And it's far better.

Are you using emulation from the Palmer and the Torpedo? Or the Palmer just as a load. Wouldn't the VB -101 have the same emulation (redwirez) as the plugin?
