I’m still Gas’ing hard for a modded Marshall, and have been getting into researching amp mods and such. Well .... I happen to have an original EVH 5153 that has part of the power board get fried. I haven’t found anyone who seems to be able to fix it, so I’ve thought about gutting the chassis and sticking an old fashioned turret board modded Marshall build in it. I’d just be doing something like a 50W build. Where would the best place to source transformers and the turret board and such be ?

Hell, a slo clone would even be a cool build. Hmmmm

If you want to go the SLO route I would suggest Rob @ c3amps, but I just tried to hit the website, and its gone so he might have stop producing

I actually just checked that site and noticed the same thing. Jerry @ FJA was going to fix the amp and also do a few mods to it, but he stopped taking in work before I had a chance to send it. I haven’t been able to find anyone who can fix the amp, so I’m thinking about doing something custom and off the wall. I may hit up kruse to see if he does repair work along with his mod work.

Man, a 5153 is an awful big headshell for a 50w amp. I don't know how much of your current parts you could use in a Marshall build, but probably not much more than some plugs and connector, if the trannies at all. I've done several builds from Valvestorm parts and you're probably better off just starting fresh or buying another 5153. Anything you do is gonna end up being $1000 by the time you're all done.

The plan if I do this is to just use the gutted chassis and headshell. If I were to go that route, it’s just to do something off the wall and have a WTF factor going when people see it. I have no intentions of using any of the actual Amp parts for the build.
