I'm sure I probably posted this before but this show gets me everytime.. how bad ass is this guy's voice and his playing? Like an original Ritchie Kotzen with less speed and stretching obviously but man does he play in the pocket. As for that rythm section, how tight is that!? Awesome.. looks like Nicko McBrain behind the skins too. What a monster player. Love the tone on this vid, is that a hint of a vibe pedal in the rythms and leads? Me thinks i should add a raunchy tele to my collection.

I just noticed that one of our own residents here posted that vid.. carlygtr has the goods when it comes to those old shows and axe grinders. Great ear!

Pat use to hang-out at Music City in Orlando quite a bit back in the late 70's and early 80's. He gave some tips on playing double-stops when I was 17. Very cool guy, and an awesome musician!

btw- thanks for the GAS... Now I need to track-down an old ADA Flanger.

So is that a flanger makin that sort of tubby sound?

No. No flanger back then. He was a big user of the MXR Phase 100. He used a lot of MXR stuff in the 70's. Distortion+, Blue Box, Phase 100. Echoplexes too.I upped this. Great early show.

This show (audio) blows it away. I was at this one and it rocked. Tommy Aldridge' debut gig w/ Pat Travers Band-

Great stuff. Thx for posting.

Go For What You Know was a staple at parties in the late 70s. Good times...

Thanks for posting that Carl. How badass is Mars Cowling? Guy is a monster.

Shit, mars cowling and tommy aldridge could turn goat piss into gasoline.

No, wait, that was duck dunn and steve cropper in the blues brothers...

Still, what a great band PT had. They were killer.

Bought the "Putting it Straight" album because of the baddazz cover.
Dropped the needle on the record, jaw hit the floor.

Then seeing him live with Aldridge and Pat Thrall just made me more hypnotized.

...cool the watch him doing the fast volume swells in the beginning of the video.

I think he was running a Boss CE-1 with a light flanger, then switched to an ADA... I'll ask him the next time a run into him. Tanqueray's in Orlando was his main hang, but I don't go there anymore.

Back then? Nope, That's an MXR Phase 100. When Pat Thrall came into the band, Thrall used the chorus in the Roland Space Echo. Travers went from phasers to the ADA on Heat In The Street

Good info... Thanks! The CE-1 is basically the same chorus that's used in the RE-301 tape echo.

It is! and I don't think Thrall ever shut it off while he was in the band.

You rock! But hey, I did pick the Roland out in the line-up. I may be getting old, but don't ever doubt my ear. ;)
