Hi guys! Has anyone tried out the PRS SE Pauls Guitar? I play in a 70's/80's classic rock/hard rock/hair metal cover band in standard E tuning. I've been reading up on different guitars as I'm getting ready to get another guitar or two to keep the miles off my older MIK Epiphone LP Custom. I kinda like this finish:

My main rig for rehearsals is Mesa Tremoverb into the Marshall 4x12: My pedalboard, MXR Classic Chorus and a Modtone Clean Boost (For Solos) through the effects loop of Mesa. I'm also going to be getting another tube amp head to retire my Mesa to home use as it's old and I'm trying to keep the miles off it as well.

Doubtful, as they're not in stores yet. However, I think there's better choices for less money, including their own SE line. Or, better yet, their S2's. Word has it their new SE's are Indonesian, and my experience with Indonesian guitars have been primarily negative.

Can’t speak to this one but can provide my experience. I never really got along with PRS guitars. I had an SE semi-hollow that sounded amazing but I couldn’t adapt to the “wide-thin” neck profile. Fast-forward and I end up getting an SE Custom 24 Floyd in a trade. Damn solid guitar. So solid, that it changed my view of PRS and I ended up buying the SE 30th Anniversary Custom 24 Floyd. Two of the most versatile and stable players I have.

I had the SE baritone model for awhile and it was a fine instrument. I’m honestly at the point that most of my new guitars are cheapos that I upgrade. The overseas stuff has gotten so reliable, while USA built instruments are steadily climbing in price. The law of diminishing returns is in full effect. I also bang around too much and not worrying about busting up 2k+ is a relief.

Anyways, I’m not s typical PRS guy, jr my sole experience with the SE model, and friends who own and gig SEs, I’m inclined to think you’ll be fine.

Agreed on the older SE's being a good value. When the other guitarist in my band was looking for another PRS, we tried out probably 75 different PRS models and SE models. I can honestly say a lot of the SE's played just as well (and some better) than their more expensive counterparts. You can find the SE's for really cheap...throw some new pickups in there...and you have a killer guitar for a fraction of the price. Of course they aren't going to have the amazing 3D tops and all that but..who really cares especially if you gig.

I don't like the necks. Some of the SE's feel like they have a half inch thick layer of poly on them. But they are good for the money on the used market if it gels with you.

I am sctetchy with Indonesian guitars too if the new ones are. I have not varied that just refering ^.
