does anyone know how long paypal continues holding payments in limbo? is it til you get so many transactions under your belt with ebay? or....? its not too big a deal, but its fucking annoying when you pay someone it's instant, and your waiting around to get money so you can turn around and get someone else's item... theyre saying 21 days. im sure theyre making interest on it too. seems a bit of a scam.

I've never had a delay of more than a few minutes. Not sure what the story is there. Did they pay you with an e-check?

Had that happen to me a couple times. Never took the 21 days, usually 3-5.

They'll hold it until delivery is confirmed; it's usually for the first few transactions, that are outside of your "normal" selling pattern.

You don't have to wait 21 days. Just tell the other guy to confirm delivery with Ebay.

It's not Paypal's fault or their BS. Blame the fucking asshole scammers for it,

Just had this happen to me. If it is over 100.00 they hold your money until the item you sold is delivered. If you do not do much selling on eBay, they will hold it until they get a delivery confirmation. It will clear a day or two later after it is delivered. If it does not clear after a day or two I would call PayPal. I have called at least three times to get my money off hold. I have 100 percent feed back and have allways sold and purchased most of everything on ebay or through PayPal. Because of scammers and Misc. deals gone wrong,it is for buyer protection. Yep,this sucks ass. I have lost some awsesome lefty guitars in auctions because I was racing around trying to sell some gear off to get something else and lost out due to funds not clearing. It is what it is.

It's usually only a few days after you update the tracking info. I've had it take a couple weeks once, but generally its 2-3 days for me.

Had this happen on a couple occasions this past year - randomly and without reason. I phoned PP about it each time and they said it was a "random" security guard; nothing personal, everything was fine, but they needed to do this on a cross section of transactions to ensure tighter safety precautions. I told them it was a hassle, and they said they could relate, but would tell the opposite party the reasoning for it - if need be, and that "to date", no one lost a deal over it.

They're getting too big for their britches IMHO. And yes, they've got your fkn money interest free. Secondly, I am in Canada and do a lot of buying south of the border. I have YET to benefit from a favorable exchange rate even though they keep telling me "they buy their money in bulk and add 2.5% to it" blah blah blah. I've never seen it where I actually benefit from their "purchased bulk of cash" being cheaper than the today's rate. Furthermore, went to do some US/Canadian and Canadian/US exchanging and BOTH WAYS I still ended up getting shorted :dunno:

You need to get the guy to leave positive feedback and make sure the shipping tracking was in the ebay system. When it triggers, ebay will release it. Thank the scammers and assholes for the feature. It's in the fine print until you have a few higher priced sells.

Steve

if you print the shipping label thru ebay ,they can confirm it was delivered safely..the 21 day wait is to ensure the buyer is happy.albiet it is leveled in favor of the buyer but if you have 50 items sold the wait time for your money is much quicker

Yes, this is what you need to do. It has happened to me a few times.

Upload the tracking info, and as soon as it registers delivered, it should clear.
