Peavey Windsor- yay or nay?

i am considering obtaining one of these...

anyone own one/clocked any time on one, have something positive/negative to say about the Peavey Windsor 100?

For the money I say go for it. They sound pretty good. Good brit tones and probably a good modding platform if you decide to do so later on. (although I still think its weird that the fx loop in/out are on the front panel :confused: )
 
they r good for the price,but if u have extra cash try marshall dsl
 
See if Jerry at FJA has any modded ones for sale. The clips he's posted of the modded Windsor are absolutely sick.
 
I've never played one, but I've only heard good things about them. if that helps. :)
 
MF and/or GC were blowing out Windsor half-stacks last year (100W head + 4x12 cab) for $500 or so, IIRC. Never tried one but for the price if it doesn't work out, mod it as other's said. IMO.
 
im located in Australia...the arse end of it...so stuff is expensive.
the windsors go for around $500AUD second hand.

heard 2 completely diffrent things about this amp
1 being great...buy it
2 being unreliable and crap

I bought one from MF because the head was only about $200. I just couldn't keep it, to me it was a real TURD! Probably a good mod platform but mod+shipping costs, don't know if it's worth it.
 
I work in music retail and have played these on a few different occasions. I actually just had one in the store this weekend and checked it out again. When they first came out i was anti brit sounding amps. But i still think it sounded pretty bad. It was muddy and with any high gain setting you couldn't here all the notes in any chord. I played the used one we had this week, and it was much better then the first. It did have some decent tubes in it so im sure that helped. However both amps did this wierd compression thing that really pissed me off, and no matter what it would never go away. It is usable, and i agree that it is a great mod platform. But for the money, it could be very fun
