Peavey wolfgang USA special?

Is the USA special a good guitar? I'm looking for something cheap with a decent floyd.

What would sound better the Wolfgang or one of those new Charvel production models?
 
the singer in the band i just quit has one for sale. its that orange-ish finish. floyd with d tune knob. its a special, or custom or something.(the $1300-1400 one when new but its a good ten yrs old). i dunno how cheap he would sell it. get your facts together and know the book value and be prepared with an offer i suppose. if you want i can give you his phone number. just pm me. all it needed was to get the 2 yr old strings off it and clean off the fret board grime. you would have to call him though. i refuse to talk to the homo :gethim: .

Neck shape and fret wire are not close. The SoCal Charvel's DiMarzio Tone Zone is a noticeably higher output pickup than the stock medium output Wolfgangs.
 
What is the neck shape like? C or D shape? fat or thin?

How is the peavey floyd?
 
I gigged with two wolfgangs and a so-cal charvel this weekend... one wolfgang special had a flame top, other didn't. Flame top has extended highs, kinda sounds like a tele on steroids with a humbucker punch. Other Wolf has a very good midrange punch imo. So-Cal is more modern sounding and has a thinner neck. Wolfgang necks are asymetrical - they digitally copied eddie's favorite neck - so it already has a broken in feel. They are thicker than the charvel necks.

Peavey floyd stays in tune great, you also get the ability to drop D at a moment's notice with the wolfgangs, but the floyd isn't set for doing pullups.

The guitars are different enough that you should try to play models of each in person.

Thanks for the info, the charvels are going to be £850 over here when they come out :doh: so I think I am going to score a wolfgang.
