It's taken a while but I've got my deal board where I want it. I need quality cables to complete the process. I'm getting a little frustrated with the George L system. Simple and easy to use.....but not very reliable. I'm good with a soldering iron so that's not an issue. Suggestions?? Thanks!

mogami cables.

that's what Dave Friedman uses for his rack system's at Tone Marchant.

I've a/b'd most cables as I crossed this bridge when redoing my board within reasonable costs:

Top contenders:

- George L's: good although I found it particularly bright with my rig, highs slightly rolled off.
- Lava Mini ELC: my standard go to cable. Nice clarity across the board
- Evidence Monorail: very similar to the Mini ELC with a touch more mid bass
- Lava Mini Ultramafic: warm, slight emphasis on bass & treble with a slight dip in the mids.

I found these to be the best, I like the soldered connectors vs the solderless. Can be finicky although you get into a knack after ten or so.

Worth noting, anything above these cables price point tends to go into "guitar instrument cable territory". Focused just on patch cables above.

The other cables I've tried but excluded for either esoteric price or didn't cut it tone wise (for me) was
- Canare GS4, GS6 slightly darkish sounding and harshish high end.
- Evidence Audio Lyric HG- awesome instrument cable, too expensive for multiple patch, stiff.
- Van Den Hul the bay C5 - didn't like it tone wise although from a noteworthy manufacturer

My 2 cents hope it helps

I'd like to try Mogami but not easy to acquire in my neck of the woods

Cheers

New Lava Mini 90 degree connector on ELC cable with the soldered end. Nice bit of kit once you get it down 100% work great.

I never understood this. I've used George L's for 4 years now (giging regularly) and have never had a single problem. They go together very easy and sound great so they get my vote.

with a good buffer, not sure super dooper cables really make that much of a diff. El cheapo cables and no buffer, sure.. I use evidence though.

I use Hosa 6" patch cables with the serviceable right angle ends. The buffer in my Koko Boost negates the use of anything else. I've AB'd with and without the board and hear no difference.

I use 20' DiMarzio cables to and from my Nova System in the loop.

Guitar to board, and board to amp are 20' Lava Blue Demon cables...

I use the shitty ones that came with my old SKB pedalboard.

The problem I've had is if I relocate a pedal. It seems I always have to clip the end a start over.

Yea, that might be true but that only takes a minute to swap the end out.
