pedal order in the loop question

Do you use the same basic order as if they were in front of the amp? Curious as I want to add an EQ to the loop with my modulation pedals......Thank You in advance......

I would put the EQ at the end in most cases .... really it depends on the amp, pedals & taste ..... just try them at your normal playing volume & see what works for you.
 
Thanks Stephen, Anyone else have an opinion?? I like to know how some of you guys and girls prefer your loop pedal order....Any information is most appreciated........

eq before the modulation is the way i'd go.

loop/eq/chorus or flange/delay/reverb

though you could get some intersting results trying different stuff, i dont see the point in trying to universally eq a modulated and echoed sound.
 
:) He never mentioned delay ... I usually use EQ after fuzz pedals. I found I like all my amps better without EQ in the loop. I have had amps that I do like the EQ in the loop - just no longer have them...
I also like EQ before delay & reverb. In general I prefer modulation in front of the amp. I do like modulation after delay only on the wet sound usually.
If I used EQ after modulation in the loop it would only be to balance the sound with modulation effects & the dry amp sound...that is why I would use it after. For me the order really depends on all the particular gear being used and needs & wants at the time.....

You are right yeti... some modulation effects have a very recognizable color they add & EQ after would probably take away from that fingerprint...

i LOVE chorus out front. flange is kind of a post distortion must for me. same with eq....though, eq can be used in a lot of interesting ways as you mentioned.

i recently bought another digitech 2101, and the way you can lay out all the effects is pretty awesome in that you can put them in any order......spiraling delays.........delayed reverb.......pitch shifted delay trails....theres some awesome, but for the most part, unusable tones you can come up with by linking stuff in different ways.
 
Amp: Orange TH30, tube buffered loop
Guitars: all humbucker equipped
Loop pedals: Digitech Hardwire Chorus, DD3.
I experimented some last night, still undecided......

Great amp ...
I would probably end up with the DHC out front / loop / EQ/ DD3..... or Loop / EQ / DHC / DD3.
With that combination of pedals about any order would sound good....make sure you try the DHC after the DD3 also....

Always like the Digitech 2101 ... one of their better units in my experience....
 
Thanks Steve, yes very happy with it. Our gigs are 75-125 person capacity and the wattage seems just right, always around 3/4 volume with no complaints....

I changed the DD3 out for an analog delay and it is meshing better in this type of loop. I'm going to try the 2101 in front as suggested...

no problem man! good luck with your quest....thats the fun part, then the satisfaction at the gig of playing and not worrying about gear performance or unsurities!

yeah, i got lucky here right after Christmas...dude was selling a 2101 local for 150 in a 4 space rack....version 1.0 or something, but i had some 2.01 chips from my old units. i will get the 3.01a upgrades soon for it. the problem then becomes finding the ppc210 cards for less than 200....they're really hard to find cheap.
 
In my loop I run:

Clean boost or eq>delay>verb

KISS (keep it simple stoopid) rule

Anything else is personal preference for a specific outcome or situation
