My pedalboard is a piece of plywood spray painted black, with velcro stuck on it where ever I need it. Homemade power supply (old Craig Anderton project). Before I consider a new pedalboard I want to explore the option of a switcher-type system.

My pedals are set-up pretty normal. I have some effects before the amp, some in the FX loop. I generally run them in a certain order and don't have a need to reverse the order of any pedals. I also like to be able to tweak the settings on the fly on certain pedals like Vibe. My delay is a DD-20, not sure how to get all the features of that pedal with a switcher. I also have a wah and don't know how that works with a switching system.

I see switchers and I wonder if it really is easier. Seems like a lot of cabling but maybe it only hurts once and after that it really is easier to set-up. My board is crowded (you are supposed to cram as many pedals on there as will fit right?) but it's not like I ever have a problem locating a pedal or hitting the switch. But I do have to tippy-toe some of the pedals or I'll fat-foot more than one button.

So give me your pros/cons and school me a bit.

I'll watch video later (no sound right now) but I searched ES-8. So do you basically have a sort of snake from board to effects housing?
