\:D/ I wish there was a smiley dude jumping up and down like a little school girl because that's how I feel. Should be here by next week end. Really looking forward to playing this due to the clips I have heard. Mainly Firejack's ( that dude can play) I went green tolex and power light. This is also the first amp James has used a metal front grill on. James Peters was a pleasure to deal with during the build. He answered all my nagging questions and concerns. Can't wait to bring the "Brootz" on this bad boy.

Here is a couple pics of the amp.

Congrats! I'm gassing hard for a Gryphon preamp. I'm surprised these don't get more love here. The Gryphon can nail the VH sound everyone seems to die for here, and can get into less compressed Diezel territory.

Thanks man. Yeah IDK why there is not too much love for the Peters. I guess it's Fortin territory or sompin. :dunno:

I really like that new layout. Looks awesome! Kinda SLO meets Fortin. I dig it!

Looks awesome and yeah firejack really knows how to show an amp off with his playing

Congrats!

You're almost part of the brotherhood. We're still looking for more apostles.

What did you get the green to match?

This amp fucking owns, btw. I'm thinking of sending my Hydra back for the re-formatting/re-aggressionizing.

Almost part of the super secret club. I love green. It will kinda match this and if I play the red one it will be like Xmas time.

That would be cool to send in for James to mod it up to current spec. He seems to be very pleased with the current spec. I hope I feel the same.

WoW, that looks insane, i like the grill man.

My Gryphon is at James place as we speak to have the latest tweaks done.

Might go for a grill......

You`ll love this amp.

Hey thanks Chris, I hope I do love it! Hopefully you like the tweaks when he is done!

Yeah he told me his latest circuit change helps eliminate some noise, i had i little noise in mine, he said the earlier ones had more.

He also has a little mod that adds a bit of aggressiveness while keeping it smoother.

Minor things, nothing dramatic cause it`s just perfect the way it is.

I love the Gryphon.

Hell yeah man, sounds like minor tweaks but probably worth it.

I will definitely be talking to James as to getting my Hydra in the shop. I was worried that it would bring it too close to my Chimera, but he talked to me and made me feel better that it was like an extra notch on the edge switch. As in, the down position will be like the current up position and the up position will be that much more EDGE. It sounds really nice to me. I pretty much always keep mine on anyway.

Is there a big difference in tone between the Hydra and Chimera?

What differentiates them the most?

I`m asking cause i`m thinking about getting a Hydra and i have a Gryphon already.

Thanks,

Chris

I think they differ most in their gain structure. Peters amps all tend to have the same feel and response, but they Hydra is thicker and the Chimera is tighter. James has since changed the design a little to make the Chimera smoother, but mine is really raw, open and uncompressed (Think thrashy) whereas the Hydra has a fatter structure that makes it sound more modern with some slight compression and it's very thick on it's own. As you own one already, I'm sure you've spoken with James enough to know that he is the one to ask about this. I love both my amps, but describing them is not my strong-suit.
