Phase issue (playing 2 amps combined)

So, I like to play my SLO and VTM in tandem through a chorus.

The VTM is a single channel. So when I switch from the crunch to the leadchannel of the SLO they get out of phase.

I'm sure I can build something that changes the phase on the speakerleads on the fly but I'm worried the OT's aren't going to like that.

Does anyone know if there is another solution for this ?

Thanks !

Are you running the chorus pedal in stereo (wet & dry)? Or dual-mono? (both outputs with chorused signals)

If it's stereo wet & dry, have you tried swapping the outputs to the amps? Say run the dry signal to the SLO and the wet signal to the VTM?

It's a stereo chorus and both sides deliver a "chorused" signal.

One side goes to the Peavey and the other to the Soldano. The thick spaciousness is addicting so I'd like to keep it that way.

talk to Jerry @ fja....im pretty sure he can build you a footswitch that will fix that

The Radial A/B box has a 180 phase switch on it.

Hmmm, something like that could work if I'd put it in an extra loop between one of the outputs of the chorus....

Thanks for the idea.

Hope it works out.....BTW i think the Radial is passive & needs no battery.

they make two versions. the twin city that is active and the big shot that is passive.

another idea that might be overkill but if you using any midi controllers and switchers? a p-split or a radial in one of the loops that you kick on and off when you switch channels will take care of the phase issue on the fly. I would imagine that would work as well.

Yep, that's exactly what I was looking into. I still have a few unused loops in the RG16 and it gives me a chance to finally buy something Lehle. I've been bugging Mr. Lehle several times over the years and never bought any of his products.

This is how you have to do it.

Oh ok. What stereo chorus pedal in particular?

Some chorus pedals inverse the phase of the modulated signal. Swapping the chorus pedal outputs might fix it?

I love using chorus too, so much that my username at TGP is "ChorusCrackpot". I'm still though trying to get the best way to use it with dirt without the signal getting a bit muddy or noisy.

Haha, the buns belong to a model called Evita Sanchez. She also rocks the "El Brasilano" :inlove:

It's this:

an old Ibanez I traded with a friend for some old Greenbacks. Lovely, warm analogue pedal.

Yeah, they are quite rare.
A common problem seems to be that you can hear the internal clock "tick". Mine does that too, but only in front of the amp. A buffer somewhere in the chain resolves it.

Btw: I've googled "El Brasilano" and nothing really showed up. What is it ?

Oh okay! I didn't really know about that, thanks.

Speaking of chorus, I'm considering going back to my Rockman Stereo Chorus/Delay to use as a splitter in front of my amps, run on a 'wide' mix so just the wet signal goes to one amp, and dry on the other. If I want it super washy I can footswitch it to the 'mono' mix. It's a pretty cool unit.

The J. Sisters would know. ;) Or just search for pics of Evita Sanchez, you'll get it soon enough.... :p
Just don't do it at work...

Aha ! ;) I'm more into "the French school" so to speak.....
