Phil X Demos the Friedman Brown Eye

Truely awesome tone! Dave ever think about having a Friedman BE in a combo? Im sure you have.. Maybe a 50watt or lower? I think it would spark alot of interest for the people that could have that tone in a grab and go type amp. :)))
 
What speakers are being used here?

I wanted to tell everyone that I am sitting here with 4 brand spanking new Scumback BlackBack 65watters and I am totally floored by how the Brown Eye and BB's sound together. They have that mid range and aggressive KNOCK that you get from the good old BlackBacks. I have 4 ORIGINAL Blackbacks in mint condition and the new Scumbacks sound the same. No difference... other then the added low end from the 65watts as opposed to 25 watts. Buy the new ones... you won't regret it!

Dave, you have been spot on about all of the VH tone stuff. From the amp to speakers to pickups. I guess it helps knowing the guy and having good ears! LOL

Is this Phil X dude someone famous or something? Is he in some major band? Never heard of him.

Great question on the combo. I would love to find an old JCM 800 Combo like a friend of mine has, send it to Dave for the BE, then throw some Scumbacks in it.
 
Awesome Dave, Sound's f'n unbelieveable!! You should have Phil do all your demos, The guy is a trip and a smokin' player, I always get a kick out of his demo's!!

What do you mean on the Blackbacks? Mine are from 1978. I got them from the second owner of them. The original owner had them in an old Marshall Cab that he had stored for 30 years. This guy that I know bought the cab. Never was able to crank them... neither did the original owner. He sold the speakers to me, and I have been breaking them in slowing over the last year. It was a SUPER lucky find. I just got Jims BM75 65watters, and to my surprise Jim NAILED the original Blackback tone. So what I am saying is.. no need to find 30 something year old Blackbacks, Jim has new ones.

I think its cool to have the originals in mint condition to compare to Jims. Switching back and forth between cabs I can't tell much of a difference. Jims 65watters are thicker sounding... more headroom I guess. But they are virtually the same to my ears.

BTW Wade, can't wait to crank up the 2nd Degree Blackbelt!

Wow, that's the tone right there! Killer demo! Only thing....that simple clean definitely does not sound like a Twin. I think it's much more like a Vox if anything. Anyway, great tones!

I've been pulling my hair out since I saw this trying to decide whether to part with my original '64 Vibroverb to get one of these. Sounds fantastic!

You got mad skills on the Camera man! Nice job. Cool band video too, I really like the simple riff and pocket grooves. Its not overplayed, which is a rarity these days.
