This one couldn't be much better hidden
Now dealers showing pics and listing specs
Loop, variac, twin volumes
4 preamp tubes puts it in my sights

We have been talking about this head and have sold a few on pre order. What would you like to know?

Brad

We have info, I have played the head at NAMM and again last week at the Friedman shop. Stripped down dual master volume BE circuit.

It is European Dealers showing it coming, with pics. Music Productiv is one.
I'll be in and out of LA this year and will be looking to hear the range and perhaps order if I like them.
I've previously tried the modes on modded amps, but not yet the Friedman monikered models.
This one appeals as I find the BE mode enough gain, and would like to hear if this one is purer and without low volume compression.
Surely a Phil X maelstrom demo is being arranged?
Not so much as a clip so far.

Phil will be making a complete video, he has been on the road with Bon Jovi. Music Productiv are good people.

I look forward to that.
I wonder if the circuit varies from that of the regular BE? I might be reading too much into the lower number of preamp tubes e.g. The 5th tube may kick in for the HBE on the BE100. Any tech info would be interesting.

Hey Brad,

Does it have any of the mode switches on the back? C45 or Fat switch in particular?

Based on this picture, there is a variac switch, but no C45, Fat or Sat switches.

Hey Guys,

It is the BE circuit. No switched, Two Masters. Stripped down Friedman and as Dave Says the way he would make all his amps if he could.

the BE circuit doesn't need just 3 tubes?
the forth is for the HBE(4th gain stage)

Always assumed one tube was for the loop. That would make sense of your theory.

the loop is tube-driven?
dave's usual loop is solid state...

Guys it only has 3 tubes. Mistake on the specs. It also has a gain structure switch. It lowers the gain from the BE. The circuit has a few other minor tweaks that changes the tone a bit. It's a very organic sounding amp.

Thanks for the clarification.
Looking forward to this one, and to hitting Tone Merchants in the summer.

Please let us know when so we can have all the amps at the shop for you. Thanks

I played the Phil X at NAMM. Fantastic amp! Everyone seems to be paying attention to the others more, but this is the sleeper. The most responsive and unique of Dave's kickass line of amps. A true liquid lead amp with immediate responsiveness.

Well could it, yes but that is not the point. It's a simple amp and should stay that way.
