Picked up a Freidman PT v2 Combo

Hi all,

I recently picked up a used PT combo for my apartment in NYC. It was at a great price and couldn't pass it up regardless of the limitations I have with volume. I ended up getting a JHS little black box to help keep volume down but get the tubes working still. I have the amp set for a mid gain/70s rock tone and want to use some ODs for going after a heavier rock tone and dip into the grunge sound. I'm not worried about boosting volume for solos, more so trying to make the single channel flexible and hit several different heavier tones. I am thinking of grabbing a Golden Pearl as from what I'm seeing that sounds exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone recommend anything from their experience? Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

You will not need anything to keep the volume down, the Friedman amps including the PT V2 have great master volumes.
I record all my YouTube videos with the volume at 1 out of 10, maybe 75-80dB, TV volume and the Pink Taco sounded great.
As for an overdrive, a Boss SD-1 works well, level at 3 o'clock and gain at 9 o'clock.
I had a Pink Taco V2 head and cab, I sold it to buy a Soldano Astro 20, not that the Soldano sounds better, just for more channels.

Here is a video of the PT V2 using a Ibanez TS808 mini as a boost, level at max, gain all the way down.
Volume on amp was at 1 out of 10.
