Test of the Two Notes Torpedo Captor. 3 takes were recorded at the same time. The Captor's internal Cab Sim, Captor Direct with an IR, and the line out of the Peavey JSX with an IR. No post EQ added, just normalized the clips. This is the 16 ohm Captor. When I was recording it, I was WTF, why does it sound so fizzy? Turned out I had direct monitoring on in my audio interface, derp. Had to cut the treble and presence quite a bit on my amp. I tried out the attenuator too. 20db is a drastic amount. The attenuator didn't sound any better then the amp at the same volume, due to the Peaveys excellent MV. Might work good for non master volume amps though.

I bet that sounded nasty with the direct monitoring. I had issues with that using my Scarlett 2i4 to reamp. The direct monitor would bleed in even when you had it turned off.. it tortured me for a while

Good stuff man! Glad you showed the built in cab sim (which I preferred here...) since most clips I have seen of this unit is using IR's.

Yeah, it sounded like total a$$ when I recorded it. I turned the presence totally off, and turned the treble down.
I was surprised the cab sim sounded as good as it did.

Cool man, thanks for sharing... and yeah the cab sim sounded pretty good. I saw a review from SpecterStudios that said for metal use the bass cab sim, suppose to be better than the guitar cab sim I guess... worth a try

Post your findings

It sounds pretty shitty on the built in cab sim no doubt about that! Glad I got the Reload when I did instead of waiting. I still like the option to crank my amp and shave just a little off the top though admittedly, any amp still sounds better with no attenuator sitting between amp and speaker. The Torpedo stuff changes the tone ever so slightly.

Test #2 of the Captor. JSX, RG7420 with Duncan DIstortions. NadIR with homebrewed IR's of my Peavey 412MS cab.
A little verb from a Replifex in the loop.
Sounds way better with your homebrew IR's... I tried the God's cab ones before... meh. Curious how you made your own IRs...
