What would you recommend? Music played is 80's metal & shred/fusion. Amplification used is a Friedman BE 100 and a KemperProfiling amp (various high gain models).

I have a dimarzio airzone in an all maple guitar that sounds killer doing RATT and the like

Duncan Custom-Custom.

Have you tried replacing the tone caps or tried rolling the tone pot down a bit?

I'd try something Dimarzio. I tend to agree with conventional wisdom that Dimarzios often are better suited to bright guitars and Duncans for darker guitars.

If I go the Dimarzio route, I think that the Transition, Crunch Lab or Titan could fit the bill. I sent an email to the folks at Bareknuckle and they suggested the Juggernaut or Holy Divers.

Decisons, decisions........

I wasn't a fan of the Holy Diver in an even-sounding guitar (not bright, not dark). It sounded ok, but just lacked balls. Don't know how else to describe it. I think some people describe the same thing as "clarity," so I guess it just depends on whether you like it or not.

Duncan Custom Custom
Dimarzio Super 3

Both pickups are designed for taming bright guitars

I had a very ice picky/extremely bright maple body strat. I tried almost all the dimarzio, Duncan pickups and nothing could tame the brightness except ....the motor city afwayu! That did it no more ice picky highs.

i have a holy diver set in a swamp ash guitar with a koa top. awesome combo.
