In one of my guitars I've got a typical 500K volume pot but a 250K tone pot. I'm reading conflicting info online so let's hear some opinions here. Does my 250K TONE pot have the same effect (or lack of it) when adjusted full up to 10 compared to a 500K TONE pot, also adjusted to 10? Others say a 250K Tone pot on 10 is like having a 500K tone rolled back to 7 or 5, depending on the taper of the pot.

Thanks

a 250K Tone pot on 10 is like having a 500K tone rolled back to 7 or 5, depending on the taper of the pot.
This is correct. Probably closer to 7 on a 500k , but a 250k tone pot would roll off more high end, even on 10.
However, I believe there are tone pots available that remove themselves completely from the circuit when full up, so they would be like having NO tone pot when on 10, regardless of whether they are 250k or 500k.

correct.

500k tone pot on 10 and 250k tone pot on 10 - 250k would have less high end.

500k tone pot on 7 and 250k tone pot on 10 - equal amount of roll-off.

This does not apply to volume pots.
