Hey guys,
Curious your thoughts. I'm replacing the ceramic SC250 in my Singlecut. It's a great pickup, very clear, big and tight.
I prefer chunkier, darker, fat pickups with some chew. My Les Paul Standard has a Rio BBQ which I love. My McCarty is getting my Suhr Aldrich, my PRS CE22 has the Dragons (although I've thought about replacing with alnico pickups) and I'm looking to maybe go the Rio BBQ route in my SC250 or Wolfetone Timbrewolf. I even thought about the Wolfetone Fenris which is alnico II. I don't like super tight, articulate pickups. I like em a little softer, chewier and fat. We play a lot of 90s and 2000s rock, grunge, alt rock and hard rock, with some metal thrown in, play originals. We've been sprinkling in some 70s and 80s as well from Rush, The Cars, Deep Purple, Maiden, etc. We are all over the place. But I like fat, chewy tones.
My main amp right now is a Bogner 20th Anniversary Shiva with various boost and ODs out front.
I'm torn between the Timbre Wolf, Fenris and BBQ in my SC250.
Thanks guys!
