Pickup Recommendation

I am looking for something that is a vintage PAF style pickup but a hot rod. I tired a WCR American Steele set and the godwood bridge just is too low output for me. I want something hotter, doesn't have to be super high output but something aggressive to go in a LP Custom.

Rio Grande BBQ bucker is a great pickup, and is around 12k. I really like the Motor City Pickups
Afwayu, which is around 16k.

Duncan Custom is a good Recommend, also the Dimarzio PAF 36th Anniversary Bridge Model. If you don't care about pickup color I have a set of MCP 2nd Degree Black Belts in white for sale.

Dimarzio PAF PRO is also a safe bet. What specifically are you looking for in the way of output and B/M/T curve? More/better mids? More Thump?

Dimarzio Norton is also a very versatile bridge pickup--well-balanced tone, but getting up there in the output (~352 mV) which might require some noise reduction to cut front-end feedback, depending on how much gain you use. PM me if you want. I've reviewed a TON of Dimarzios with sound clips and can point you in the right direction to find them.

Cheers,

It may seem like a suggestion that is not up to par with the rest, but for the cheap, the GFS pickups are all really hot and really good. Their Powerrails and Crunchrails are really hot, and sound pretty good.

Personally, I'm going to Duncans. I've been looking into getting myself a Custom.

You say that like it's a bad thing or something :student:

C'mon, the BKP's have got it going on - lower output, chewy and full, gorgeous harmonics, very true to the wood of the guitar... I've gone through a number of manufacturers. Personally? BKP always delivers, and I'm installing my 5th set as we speak - 5 guitars, 5 sets of BKPs, no other manufacturer, they ain't cheap, but they're to me the best out there.

For what the OP requested, the RRs have it in spades - modest output, wicked range, nice vintage feel, but a great ginding tone in a Lester. They're smokin' pups.

Peace

The Duncan Custom or the Screamin Demon are great for that "hot" PAF vibe.

If you like WCR - I've got an Iron Man for sale that will have a C8 mag installed but also an A5 that you can swap out if you want
