Turns out that the fixed bridge on the RGA121 I just bought is F-Spaced...either that or it isn't and the Gibson 500T I bought is F-Spaced? because the pole pieces do not line up at all?

But anyways, that pickups looks like it isn't gonna work in it, so I'm looking for some suggestions on what to try. I could just throw some Duncans in it, but I want to try something different. I was thinking something like Bareknuckles maybe? But they're so ridiculously expensive. I'll have the guitar in C and B tunings and running through a 5150.

I think the spacing on the 500T is odd, it's like in between a standard and a F-spaced or something  I put a F-spaced in my Classic that the pups came out of, and the gap is too big, but I measured a standard to go in there and its off a little too

I think it should still be fine though even if it doesn't line up as long as its close to the high e. The Aldrich in my Classic is off by .1 but it still works fine. Gibson shit is weird, there is no consistency, also you never get a straight answer. People say the classic is F-spaced so the 500T should be "f spaced", but you throw in a F-spaced in the classic and its off

I think you can get Gibson humbuckers that are 53mm long as opposed to 50mm which is their norm. Call around to some of the more prominent Gibson dealers or now that gas is cheap again, roadtrip it to Nashville and ask Gibson in person.

As for other pickups, I'd say give the Anderson H3 a whirl. I had the pleasure of playing a Cobra S last week with one in the bridge and I can't tell you how fast and hard I fell in love with the guitar. Super chunky but still tight and clear. More concentrated than the H3 in my old Drop Top.

The pickup will work fine. The pole spacing doesn't have to be exact.

Yep, it sure as hell won`t be the straw that breaks the camel`s back. I`ve played with non-Fspaced buckers in Floyd guitars, and never had a problem.

I have WCR Ironmans in my RGA 121, and it is killer!!! Those pickups are pricy, but they can do anything that I want to do, and it is very easy to change magnets to get different sounds.

BTW I think that Ibanez got it right with that bridge, it is so nice for palm muting. That whole guitar is win in my books

Yeah, I actually really like the guitar. It's really heavy for a Super Strat, it sounds real nice even with the stock pickups, and it plays damn well. It's by far the nicest Ibeenhad I've ever played.

You know I'm real anal about stuff like that though. It would look retarded. :aww:

Yup, look at some of the 80s shredder stuff and the way the poles lined up.

Suhr Aldrich

Has anyone ever tried this pickup in low tunings for more modern sounding stuff?

I think Zorran uses these in his PRS, check his clips site

Quick question, do Anderson pickups come in F-Spaced or are they all the same since the pole pieces are so big? I'm thinking maybe an H3 but I've only ever played their pickups in standard tuning.

:Mr. Burns style: "Excellent..."

I think the standard ones come in around 53mm (Fender spacing) because the two bridge options offered are "Vintage" (2 point Gotoh 510 style) and Floyd Rose. Call them on Monday and ask them. Roy and Eric are incredibly helpful. Actually, you can try calling them tomorrow. I've talked to Tom a couple of times when I called to leave a message on Saturday.

EDIT:

BTW Mark, love the new avatar. :D
