I saw Rob mention this as a future 20w offering once the SS is complete. I'm currently shopping for a lower powered amp for my blues gig. I'm currently using my Marsha (and it sounds great...far from strictly a rock/metal amp) but I'd like to go with something that gets the power tubes cooking at a lower volume. Any details about what this amp will be would be greatly appreciated. If it does what I need, I'll be willing to wait for it instead of buying something else.
A "Brown Eyed" 20w Marshall platform would be killer if that's what this is.

You can get that now - Friedman sells a modded 20w Jet City, Brown Eye mod with Saturation switch for $550. It sounds killer.

Any mods that would add a 'brown eye' type circuit to a 1974X or 2061 type of amp would have my interest for sure.

Killer sound in a bonehead simple package.

I'm in.

Any updates on this amp. It is very intriguing. Some questions:

1.) Is it still looking like an October release? It's already listed on the Destroy All Guitars website.

2.) Will it be handwired, PTP, turret board construction (like the BE), or will it be PCB?

3.) What features (or typical Friedman "mods") will it have? BE? HBE? JBE? SAT? FAT? FX Loop? Etc.?

4.) Are there any pics that could be posted up? Ideally of what the production model will look like.

Thanks!

1.) Is it still looking like an October release? It's already listed on the Destroy All Guitars website. ----- Yes they will be ready for preorder in October after the LA amp show.

2.) Will it be handwired, PTP, turret board construction (like the BE), or will it be PCB?---- point to point board handwired. Yes it's a Brown eye circuit with loop on a 20 watt Marshall style power sections with el84 tubes.

3.) What features (or typical Friedman "mods") will it have? BE? HBE? JBE? SAT? FAT? FX Loop? Etc.?---- Just the BE with a loop.

4.) Are there any pics that could be posted up? Ideally of what the production model will look like. ----As soon as I have it done to take picture of. A few weeks for sure.

Guys,

I will be out in LA with Dave at the amp show and I will get some pics of the Taco while I am there.

Sounds like a killer little amp!

Thanks, Dave and Brad.

I can't wait to hear this thing!

Dave, will any options be available, e.g. simple clean, 2nd volume / master, SAT?

My accountant's really gonna think I have some issues when she finds out I dropped 12 grand on Naked's, Brown Eye's, Dirty Shirley's and Pink Tacos. Hey, it was a slow year. :dunno:

Brown eye circuit with loop on a 20 watt Marshall? Sweet.
I had a Retro King 18 that was pretty awesome.
This sounds like it could be even better.

No kidding...

Pink Taco.

And give a fur burger with that...

I'm hoping someone will upload pics or some iPhone vids of the Taco within minutes of the Amp Show opening.

Pretty please?

Hey Guys,

I played the taco late last night with George and Dave in a late night jam at Dave's shop. Amp sounds great! EL84s and a loud 20 watts. Very greasy rock and roll amp. Will try to post some pre show pics today.

That would be awesome. Thanks, Brad! :rawk:

Brad, can briefly describe how she sounds? How does she compare tone wise to a BE?

Same gain structure and feel of the BE in a compact 20 watt package. Chewy gain with harmonic feedback and not buzzy at all. I predict guys will love this amp and if your a at home player you get the goods for a 1/3 rd o the price as the big head. It's never gonna sound as huge as the 100w BE but for its the same sonic landscape.

I already have a deposit on one, so a pic would be soooooooooooo welcomed.

Does this have any other features on the back. How about an fx loop.
