And they both ripped

I just got back from the vintage guitar show in SC.

The Suhr was H-H with Aldrich pickups, rosewood fretboard, maple neck. Neck was super comfortable and felt as-good or better in quality than my M-II - it had the type of raw white maple that ESP is known for. It felt awsome, and i believe it was a satin finish but felt 100% natural - was New and not used. Excellent excellent guitar, played better than the fender custom shops and other Suhrs at the vintage guitar show. floyd felt comfortable and the setup was perfect, the guitar basically played itself. Alder body, it sounded and played perfect. Absolutely stunning

the Robin was the biggest surprise, i have to own one in the future!

Mahogany wings, maple top, maple neck-through with ebony fretboard. I believe it was also 24-3/4 and not 25.5" scale. That guitar just dripped tone and the neck was extremely comfortable. I have to say i am not a fan of ebony but the Robin made me a believer. It felt as good or better than the Suhr, but it was an early model bigsby-type tremelo and not Floyd type which was limited to trem-vibrato/no fine tuners/etc. which was the lacking feature, it could be converted to stop-tail but not floyd-floating. It also sounded great, way better than my 1988 Charvel.

Definitely could see owning one of each in the future. I definitely like the fatter necks of Suhr Standards.

Also saw a real echoplex from the early 70's, an original 1958 fender, and a few others misc. things. No price posted on the echoplex and i figured if i had to ask it was too much

Yeah i have always loved robins and wanted one since i was a kid. Since they went out of business i was extremely surprised when i saw the headstock. He obtained it in a Philadelphia guitar show a few years back on trade. I felt like a kid in a candy store!

Hope i can find a Robin in the future, i keep talking about them and finally had the chance to play one which was amazing

Robins are great guitars and I am lucky to own one. This guitar has one of the best necks I have ever played.

Robins are awesome guitars, wish I hit that one that Killertone got a while back.

Yeah the first thing that came to mind actually was killertone's, i was surprised at how small the headstocks actually are, the early japan models arent that big to be honest - not hockey puck ESP kamakazi size, it was actually smaller than my charvel/jackson headstock.

overall a great playing/sounding guitar. absolute shredder. Back then they really had it down to a T - i would put it up against my ibanez prestige easily, i would almost dare say that early MIJ Robin played better than the custom Suhr and my M-II, but the Suhr/M-II sound bolder and more alive simply due to wood differences. It really held its own, and at 1/3 of the price of the other guitars i put it up against at the show. Just simply amazing. I would sell my 1988 Charvel Crackle in a heartbeat for one. It was a really cool experience :)

I went to that show on Sat. and the top on the Robin was bad ass. The guitar that was killing me was the Jackson Kelly U.S.A. but it was out of my price range.

flamed maple with dark cherry burst, and from the 80's! They really knew what they were doing.

Did you play/see the rosewood neck EB?

I also went on Sat, i was one of the guys beating around on the 5150 striped combo

The only Music Man I saw was an Albert Lee and that is a little radical for my style. My wife and I were at show around 1:00-3:30 and I was carting around my 1983 Marshall 2203 just to see if I could get any bites. The only deal I put together was trading my B.K. Butler tube driver for a MP Deep Blue delay that sounds great. Did you buy the 5150?

I haven't played a Robin, but have a Suhr Standard and I don't think I'll ever sell it...I'll play a different guitar now and then for variety, but it's still number one for me.
You mentioned liking the fatter neck of the Standard...just to clarify, you can order just about any neck shape you want.

I really don't need another guitar but if the roasted bodies become available, I may have to order a Classic with roasted neck/body and single coils...I think it would be the ultimate strat for me.

I'm a big Robin fan. Every one I've owned has been a killer axe. I would love for them to get back in business.

I saw you pushing the marshall around on a cart with your wife, we were there from 10-2 but you were speaking to the guy in the back i think? No-go on the 5150 combo, come to find out the person who striped it tore the tolex off of the amplifier then painted the stripes onto it - it was not striped tolex :scared:

Needless to say we saw a few friends we normally see every year, caught up on a few stories and looked around a good bit. Next to the robin was a rosewood neck/rosewood top EB axis which was amazing. I love rosewood necks, felt as good as the TA i played a few years back

I hope to own a green Medley one day, it's been my dream guitar ever since i was a kid. I first saw the fly to the angels music video and ever since then i obsessed over them in high school. I hope i can find one with an ebony FB like the one that i recently played, i would love to be the proud owner of one
