Bolt on 80's style parts-casters... Yeah, I'm sure they are ground breaking amazing leaps of technology compared to all the other brands of parts-casters built in the last 30 years... Lol!

I don't think you'll find any guitars for a while with ground breaking tech. Aristides is the only one that comes to mind and they aren't even really that popular IMO.

Does Chub build these? Or is he buying parts and rebranding head stocks?

I'm unsure but I don't think it's a partscaster. I've only heard two reviews on these guitars to date and they're from Reza who has some seriously amazing guitars and gear and Steve H who probably has played more Charvels than Wayne

Given the price point and good reviews I'd think these guitars would be pretty good.

YEP!!!

Simple really..if you want a Charvel style guitar, that's probably damn close to a custom shop quality guitar you have to consider these.
Gonna try one in the near future!

Ummmm.....
Aren't all guitars made out of parts?

They look super cool! Would be interested to know where the parts come from and a bit more info about how they are putting them together and doing the finish work. I am hoping they do a bunch of dual hum vintage trem versions.

a bit harsh man don't ya think?

There is no magic in throwing parts together but plenty in making them feel, play, look and sound great. These are priced very well and you know it will be a well made, set up guitar. It is not cheap as one thinks especially if you use top notch products. As one who has pieced guitars from Musikraft, USAGC and Charvel clone parts I got as good as GMW and Charvel or anyone really but I subbed out paint work to 3rd parties whcih cost more.... a lot of the Chubbs are cheaper in total and ready to rock without doing anything else to them.

I wasn't dissing the guitars themselves, I haven't played one, (just pointing out that there is a lot of similar quality builders out there), I was laughing at the OP's post.... "believe the hype", "they're amazing".  This guy has an orgasm over every piece of gear he touches. Good luck to Chub in his business venture.

Chub's guitars are around $1100. I haven't played one but if they play and feel great good luck trying to find anything in that range made in the USA that's close.

Are his necks from Muzikraft? Warmoth?
Your joking, right?

Steve

Why would he be? There's no indication anywhere if they're building things themselves or assembling them from off the shelf parts and doing the finish work or what. Every photo on the website shows completed bodies and necks that are at most in need of finish so it's a reasonable question. The photos look great, and the reviews from the two of you guys are good but that doesn't answer how the production is handled.
