They must have sprinkled some magic pixie dust from fairy tale forest on them because each one I played today just felt perfect. They had low action but nothing too low. A place near me is a Suhr dealer and he has a bunch in stock, standards and Moderns. I didn't plug any in but they sounded good unplugged. I think I really like the neck on the Moderns even though I've never been a big fan of 24 fret guitars since the neck pickups never really sound "right". Only thing I didn't like is seems prices have gone up and only 1 of them was under $2800. But I did go into Sam Ash the other and played some Fenders and they just felt cheap to me after I play some Suhr's or Anderson.

Now someone buy my PRS so I can buy another Superstrat. :gethim:

Here's the place.

If you liked them unplugged you are in for a pleasant surprise when you plug em in. They have so much tone. I agree some of the prices for new ones are high but on the used market deals can be found.

2499 is the going price for a Modern down here. Check Humbucker Music. 2014 largest Suhr dealer. Got my Custom there.

Dangerous store to go in.

You already know how I feel about my Modern. Literally no other guitar I would rather play.

What happened Danny? I know you never really dug the Suhrs you played. I had three Tom Andersons and while I thought they were great guitars I always came back to the Suhrs. Two of the eight I had were just ok. Two of the remaining six were excellent. I prefer Suhrs fretwork over TA. Once I got used to the Plek done right......

Love my Modern. That 16" radius, Guthrie Govan profile is perfect in my hands. I recommend the roasted maple necks.

I owned 3 Suhr's in the past and they were all very nice, but 2 didn't sound that good at all really. I had a Pro Series S4 that was nice and liked that one but I just sold it to try other guitars. I had a Koa standard that sounded bright as hell and I had a Pro Series modern that was very weak sounding in the neck spot. I usually drift back towards Anderson myself, for hard rock and heavier tones Anderson guitars sound right to me. But I did play one today that was close to $3500 and the fret ends were sticking off the edge of the board which I didn't like but that can happen to any guitar I guess. I also tried a Bulldog and that didn't really float my boat.

Still, I like the modern neck shape and the one's I played today felt great. I wonder if you can get a standard model with the modern neck shape?

The Pro Series I had is one I probably should have kept.

I got my first suhr last year (C1) and it is really one of the best playing instruments i have. It was pretty easy to dial it and it just feels great. I have recent gotten a Suhr Modern and when i first saw the neck i was worried it would be too thin, but it absolutely feels great. It's slim but it has nice shoulders so it fits nicely in the hand; I have the GG spec neck. The SS frets are amazing also!

I bought my first Suhr Modern about 5-6 weeks ago and it blows me away more and more each day.

I was almost instantly in a buyers remorse due to the price tag and due to the 24 fret thingy but after settling in and just playing it every day for a week, It is in fact the greatest guitar I own or have owned hands down...

The thing plays itself, literally... and the tone on my Shur Modern is fat, yet well balanced and smooth as a shaved snapper

I'm kind of surprised what a great single coil tone you can get with the neck pup split, very strat-ish

I'm a totally a believer in the Suhr modern and my only other guitar I love playing as much is my 2011 Gibson R8 VOS.

This guitar is a serious financial commitment and while I might take you a short season to adjust if your a 22 fret guy, it is a monster of an AXE!

I really cant think at this point of another guitar I would want to buy... except another Suhr modern.

My experience was quite different BUT … with that said, I know I can't bias my opinion entirely on one guitar. They certainly look amazing.

I've been a Les Paul guy for decades and am fortunate enough to have amassed a fairly nice collection of guitars (Custom Shop LPs, Hamer, Charvel, etc.). The basswood / maple Suhr Standard I picked up a few years ago is THE one of the bunch that feels and sounds like "home" to me. I love that guitar. Played a few Moderns at Dave's Guitar a few months ago that were all incredible in every aspect. They bumped a Historic LP off the top of my wish list.

Like all guitars, some have "it" and some don't. Suhr definitely puts out way more hits than misses. For all I know, I could have a dud and it still eats most of my other guitars for lunch. :)

Not only does John have some nice guitars but he is a really good guy to deal with.
