I'm wondering if I could get some input here. I decided to list my Revv Generator 120 MK III for local sale, as I'm not really enjoying it, and have received a few trade offers that I am having a hard time deciding on. None are truly, down the road local, so it's hard to go try them out. I live in BC Canada and everything is several hours drive away. I'm having to depend on Youtube and reviews, which is a pain.
When I listed it, I had the idea of getting something with a hot-rodded Marshall sound, so was sort of looking for a Splawn. I did have a guy in the US offer one along with some pedals, but shipping back and forth to the US isn't particularly an appealing prospect, due to high shipping costs and high import fees to Candada.
The amps I've been offered are:
Suhr PT-100 Pete Thorn signature amp
Engl E656 Steve Morse Signature
Budda AS100 Alex Skolnick Signature
I'm not sure why they are all sig amps. Haha. The Budda is sort of cool, as it's a pre-production model that never went to market, but determining its value is sort of impossible, as there is no market for them. I also worry that if it dies, it'll be impossible to get fixed.
The Suhr definitely seems to do the Plexi thing well, but I wonder if it is too vintage? I also play a lot of metal, but I've got a few 5150, Recto, and Mark models for that, so it's not super essential. If I need a dirtier Marshall tone, I also have JCM 900 MK3, which is the good 900.
The Engl seems cool, but I've heard a lot of Engls can be quite processed and compressed sounding, which is something I want to get away from with the Revv. I've heard people say the More Sig isn't like that and while there's a few Youtube vids of it sounding very open and plexi-like, there also a few of it being a low-tuned chug machine.
Then there's the used price. I've listed the Revv at $3300 CAD ($2500 USD) and the Suhr seems to go for around the same, but from what I saw, the Engl seems to go a bit lower. I just worry if I don't gell with end and end up having to try to sell something at a lower price.
