I would love to try the Mesa EQ pedal. You know damn well that it is a solid piece of equipment. I have two mesas that have the geq and have never felt it was doing anything less than an amazing job.

I use the mesa eq in my triaxis loop, and yes it does a amazing job. It's the same eq as on boogie amps but in a pedal format.

The Boogie 5 band EQ pedal is miles away from the onboard EQ’s. Sound nothing alike. For reference, I had Mike B make me a stereo EQ pedal made with real amp EQ’s and cut up mark series circuit boards. It made the 5 band EQ pedal sound like a little toy.

Here is a pic of my old rack. I had both of the triaxis preamps modded for gain as well. :D. The Strategy 400 has added push/pull depth pots for both channels. It can make the house rumble. I currently use the S400 with my wet/dry/wet rig.

I still have an old black one and it crackles and pops pretty badly. I’ve tried cleaning the jacks and all the internals but it hasn’t made a difference.

I moved to the silver MXR 6 band and the Danelectro 7 band and both do a great job, plus they are only 9V so I don’t have to worry about 18v power.

That cracking and popping is what happened to me twice. Maybe the silver ones are better. Don't know, but I won't be getting an MXR pedal again.

Simply beefing up tone in loop? Id say a Low shelf. Maybe tc integrated preamp style like magnetic zola.
