I'd like to internally jumper the channels on my 50w plexi clone. Do I simply put a piece of wire between the two jacks or use a small resistor (as cables do have some resistance). Also do I need to jumper the grounds (can't see why I would, but who knows).

A piece o' wire will do fine. No need to worry about the grounds. You will have to disconnect the wire going to the shorting pin on the second channel jack (the one that keeps the amp from making noise when no cable is plugged in).

A better way is to just move the second channel grid wire over to the first input jack.
Then you don't have to disconnect the switching connection.

Unless you plan on building a single jack version, it is easier to just stick a cable between the jacks.
