Plz advise – Suhr or Nash TELE ?

I have a serious GAS for a Tele, and like a good Suhr fan-boy that I am… got to look what they offer in the “classic antique” department and custom wise.

I also saw some relic NASH tele’s that looks very cool and old school…
I would thought about actual fender Tele (CS or MB), but a very good one is hard to come by especially in this country!
The Shur and Nash (whatever ill choose eventually) will be a “blind buy” from overseas I’m afraid, but with my experience with several suhr’s I’s always a spot on! So I have no concerns there.
I also love that the suhr T are compound 9-12 and roasted maple necks…
Vs –
I don’t know or touched any NASH before….

I know it seems like I made on my mind but I actually need to hear some ideas and opinions from you guys!
What will you suggest?
I’m looking for that twangy, woody, classy sound!

Thanks!!!

I don't know why anybody in their right mind would like the relic treatment on Nash guitars. It is cheap and fake looking (like using a belt sander). Fender's relics are wayyyy better than Nash and are a dime a dozen on the used market.

With that said, if it is a totally blind buy, I would probably go with Suhr as they are the most consistent. While I've generally preferred Fenders over Suhrs, you have to sort through a lot of them to get a good one. Almost every Suhr is perfect right out of the box.

Suhr builds an awesome guitar...you can't go wrong there. But if you want a traditional Tele look and feel it's very hard to top Nash IMO...the several T-52 models that I've played stood head and shoulders above the Fender '52 Reissue and were equal and frequently better than any of the Fender Custom Shop models that I've played.

If you want a truly awesome Tele, you might want to look into Kelton Swade...he's building some of the finest Fender clones available at any price. I've only played one of his Strats but if it's any indication, I would suspect (and have heard as much from others) that his Tele's are just as great.

You say you're "buying blind". You also have confidence in Suhr. I would think that right there is your answer

suhr if its a new build, beware a buddy of mine paid nash for a tele months ago and he cant get them to call him back. if you google nash you will find there are production time issues. if your buying off the wall i think its a pick em.

guitarriot.com

They have a few Nash in stock ($1750.00)
Plus you'll only be able to get the Suhr Pro series for $2000.00/$2400.00
Nothing wrong with the Pro's,just wanted to make sure you know
anything other than the Pro series is gonna cost $$$.

Ha! I was going to type exactly that. You saved me the trouble.

And yeah, a lot of the Nash relics are way over done and not very appealing to me, but you can easily find ones that have mild relic jobs that are very well done. I've owned two of them. (Still have one) Both were/are great players. Very light weight and great tone! Love the lollar pups.

Plus, no other headstock looks right on a Tele but the Fender HS. I would 100 percent go with the Nash over the Suhr for a Tele.

You can get a nash used for like $1300 which is great, I LOVE my nash S-81 it is killer and if you like relics they have a great worn in feel, and almost always sound and play great. Suhr is like a ferrari, perfectly built and also excellent, great resale value as well. That being said, me I would get an anderson short T. I have one and it is killer, plus the pickups don't hum. My buddy has one as well and they both just have huge tele tones with perfect playability, build and intonation.

that right! i own and owned some suhrs and they spectacular!
that why im sticking with buying them when ever i can afford it... but here is a more of a traditional axe(old school) and i heard some great stuff about NASH... so i figure i will ask around where i trust some ppl judgments..

i know about the suhrs prices... i have two and sold three in the past.
i was thinking to get the classic antique that has the roasted maple neck... she will do just right ;-)!!
It's a 2450 before shipping and tax.... so i figure i look around for some other options though i probably pull my wallet for another suhr!

thanks! :-)
