So I've got my POD HD500 and just recently got pro tools with an Mbox and i was wondering how the proper way to connect the POD to the Mbox for direct recordings. I saw a youtube video from line 6 saying the best way for direct is to use the XLR out but it just shows them using the Left out. Will using just one out still work for stereo effects or do i need to use both left and right? Also just any other input you guys might have regarding settings or connectivity and stuff that use a POD HD500 would be great. Still new with this thing.

from what i remember , unless you use the USB connection and the POD as an interface you have to use both XLR outputs or the 1/4" jack outputs for stereo, otherwise it's just summed Mono

there was all sorts of things with EQs, not clipping the input and things like that but it's been a while i can't really remember, i do remember recording using the USB for some stereo goodness

maybe someone else will chime in

Yeah i know some people use the USB but unfortunately I'm recording on a Macbook Pro that only has 2 USB outlets that are both being used, one for the Mbox, and the other for the iLock so i can use pro tools. Any direct usage would have to be done via connecting to the interface.
