Does anyone know if there is more processing power with the Pod X3 Pro than the regular Pod X3? I'm planning on getting one for a new cover band I got into, but I don't see the point in spending an extra 300 for the Pro if it sounds the same.

Can't speak for the x3 but my original Pod Pro sounds a lot different than my regular pod.

If you must have Line 6, wait for the new HD series to come out in a few months. Supposed to be great stuff from line 6.

Well, if I could, I would have Axe Fx lol   . I have a cover band (first show Oct. 2) and need to get a bunch of patches that sound close to the original songs. A used X3 (or x3 pro)+ Full FBV seems like the most cost effective way. The HD 500 looks pretty cool, but isn't going to be around 799.99?

For 300 extra dollars you would think it would sound a bit better.

That it does. Still sounds decent even after all these years, when paired with a good tube power section at least.

THe pod Pro versions are identical to the beans as far as patches and sims goes, the only thing they add is a bunch of different outputs and inputs...THe pod xt and XT Pro, the pod X3 and X3 pro, the pod pro and pod version 2.0...all identical.... If you go download the manuals on them you will find they state as much in the user manuals. I had a PodXTPro for a while with all the patches and ditched it...

Yea, it's not the most ideal piece of gear that will work, but it is pretty much the cheapest solution for getting as close to the songs as possible, without breaking the bank. An axe fx would be friggin awesome, but after having to purchase the foot controller, it is well over 2500-3000. That is just not possible right now  I have heard the X3 sounds alot better than the XT though. Like mentioned previously, they do have the new HD series coming out also.

Ohh I absolutely agree...its a great way to get a working mans price on a modeler...I am definitely not bagging the use of the thing. I just wanted to point out that anyone who thinks the pro version "sounds" better than the floor model or the bean is hearing with their eyes and wallets because they are absolutely identical...LOL. If you want to save a few bucks and dont need the extra xlr outputs on the pod and pod xt or the extra inputs on the front of the X3 pro then realize you arent settling for anything inferior as far as tone, dynamics, or software...as there is no difference between them. THere will be some smoking deals on X3's in the coming month or 2 I would guess once that new model finally does hit the streets...

My pod pro does sound way different than my original pod. Maybe a different version of firmware?
