Guys I need a small versatile "all in one" unit for a few solo/duo gigs I've got coming up.
I can't take my main guitar rack and board so need something light, versatile and decent sounding.

I've borrowed a friend's Pod XT Pro for the past few weeks and while on paper, it's great, the reality is a bit of a letdown.
I've downloaded loads of user tones but nothing seems to feel right.

Has anyone used the Digitech GSP 1101 ?
Again, on paper it looks great and I hear good things about it but I'd like to hear some real user opinions please.
I can get a great deal on one inc the dedicated pedalboard.

I can't stretch to the Axe FX so that's not an option.

Thanks for the help.

You may also want to look into the 11 Rack. It's not on the same level as the Axe, but it still seems to be a pretty good unit IMO.

I've been using the GSP1101 for a few years and I think it's a very good sounding unit. I've been using it with a full band with a Boogie 50/50 power amp into a Marshall 2x12 mic'd up or straight into the PA on acoustic gigs and I'm very happy with it. I would recommend this unit over a Line 6 XT Pro anytime.

If you go with the GSP, I would also recommend upgrading to C63 at mustbebeta.com.

+1 on the gsp1101, easy to setup and sounds great

if you're running direct loading custom cabinet impulses onto it make a huge difference imo , latest beta firmware allows that

Thanks for that.
Looks like I'll be placing an order tomorrow.

I quite like the idea of using an expression pedal for a wah.
Having never tired this way before, how would I activate the wah ??

i think on newer firmware there's an 'auto-engage' feature thing for the wah

otherwise using the control 2 or there might be a switch underneath (a la crybaby) , should be straightforward

I can't comment on the Pod I've never tried it, but I've had an Eleven Rack and now have a GSP. To me and my use the GSP is the better unit of the two, especially paired with a decent power amp (I'm using a Rocktron Velocity 300 1U and it smokes!).

You can get really good tones out of the GSP very quickly. Tweaking the tones on the fly is a breeze IMO. You can go with the cab sims off from the line out to your amp/cab and leave the sims on in the XLR outs and go direct to the board (have yet to test the cab sims on the GSP but since it accepts 3rd party IR's it should work nicely :)). No noticable lag when changing presets (the 11R had a lag and I never got along with that properly...).

As for the wah, you could assign a CC to one of the footswitches if you want to turn it on and off separately. Just checked the release notes for the c63, the last firmware, you can set the threshold for the toe switch in the Control 2 pedal to have it on and off "automatically". Looks very easy to do too :).

I have an XT Pro and I've used a GSP1101.

The GSP has better presets, but in my experience you can dial in better tones with the XT Pro. Plus, the Line6 shortboard footcontroller is smaller than the GSP controller, and it's built like a tank and very functional.

GSP here, nice light grab and go rig and can be dialed in for some great tones! Update the firm ware to the C63 and you can use redwire or any other cab sims "IR's".

+1 on the GSP. Been using it for awhile live w/ the rocktron as well, works great.

Ordered the GSP1101 and Control 2 foot switch today.
Should arrived by Fri... can't wait to try it.

What are " IR's" ????

also, this is prob a daft question, but do I only need to get the latest update >
Will it contain all previous updates ?

IRs are Impulse Responses - basically like an image/EQ curve of how a certain cab/speaker responds through a certain mic setup
to me make a huge difference in quality

you just need the latest update c63 has all the previous updates within

here's a vid i made of mine

Thank you for that.

You've got some lovely sounding patches there mate, can I get them ???
