Does anyone know if it was a 250k or 500k pot in his original white "Charvel" strat? Dimarzio recommends 250k with their SDS-1 pickups. I wonder if that is what was used? Working on my JEL build and it is a bright guitar with a 500k pot.

I used a 500K in my maple bodied JEL Charvel w a Holdsworth spec'd JB and SDS-1's and it works fine. I don't find it bright at all but I'm sure the brass Charvel hardtail bridge takes alot of the brashy brightness out of it as well.

You can try a 250K some people love them with bright PAF's and JB's but I think you will end up with a 500K, alot of 500K pots read between 400K and 500K. Most of my Bourns low friction pots read about 440K and only a few that are 450-490K.

If you're asking what Jake actually used so you can copy his tone, I'm not entirely sure, unfortunately. If I had to guess, it was probably a 500k pot. I think all of his sig models had a 500k pot? Not 100% sure, though.

If you're wondering what is the best way to run two singles and a humbucker so they "see" the correct load, you need a superswitch and some resistors. Follow this diagram for Suhr. Note this also contains a treble bleed circuit on the 500k volume pot that is optional (but recommended)

I don't know, but I just put a 500K pot in my Strat and it had a 250K before. I prefer the 250K for single coils, as the 500 will make them sound slightly brighter. I couldn't tell a big difference in tone with the humbucker at either 500 or 250. I might just go back to the 250.
