I had a buffer for about a year, one day it stopped working. I bought another from a different company and it worked for a day then same problem happened. I sent it back to them and they had said the circuit had been fried. They sent me another one and I have not had any problems with it. I played last night and everything was fine. I turned everything on today for the first time since last night and everything works fine except the buffer is now having the same problems as the first 2. I plugged just into buffer like before to test, LED works and I can some faint signal through. But its clearly the same problem as before.

I have all my pedals powered by a PP2, which is plugged into a surge protector that I have had for many years. My amp is also plugged into that surge protector. all the buffers have been powered this way. nothing is different. Nothing has changed at all. But my buffers seem to stop working randomly.

The buffers were being powered from my tuners extra power jack on the top. Tuner was powered by the PP2. Could this be a problem?

Could my PP2 be causing a problem?
Could it be that the surge protector has gone bad?
A bad outlet?
My amps?

any input would be great!

Did the switch on the bottom of the PP2 somehow get switched to 12v for that outlet?

Everything on the bottom is normal. the buffer was tied to the tuner's power outlet. Tuner works fine from its power from the pp2.

Are you exceeding 1875 watts draw on the circuit, or the max mA the tuner can support?

not sure about the max mA on the tuner, but I did move the it off of the tuner to the PP2 after it was fried. I am being sent another one. I have gotten a new power surge protector that will have my outlets off all the time until I flip a switch to turn them on when I wanna play.

No idea about the max draw on the circuit. the outlet was powering my pedalboard that powers 8 pedals and my amp. It also has a room heater on the outlet below.

For years I have had this happen on and off with various pedals and an amp at one point. The wiring of a house, club, gargae can be worlds apart. What breaker is it running off of from the box? What else is on that breaker? Instead of trying to figure all of that out, I dumped the power conditioner and bought a voltage regulator from furman, did it cost a shit load of cash? Yup!!!! But when surges and spikes occur, you will never have an issue. Well...outside of lightning striking the joint.

We all have had it happen....at your place your rig sounds great, go do a show your plugged into an outlet at some venue and the rig just does not sound right. All power or lack there of. For all of the pursit....I already know, room size, carpeted stage, blah, blah will affect tone. Keeping the voltage regulated is number one. Look into it you will be pleasantly surprised  ! and you will save your gear.

would getting a power conditioner help keep things safe from frying?

No it will not!!!!!! Power conditioners to me are snake oyl....they are a really cool looking power strip. With that said, I am sure there will be a lot of people who will flip their caps.

nope

i agree.

get a voltage regulator. your power conditioner is only as "shielded" as the rest of your rig anyways....start simpler. power regulator (usually these are EMI/RFI shielded anyways).

power conditioners sell because people think they're getting more from them than they really are.

Uh, get the room heater off the same circuit. This will introduce at least noise and at worst may damage other components.
