Power Supplies - One Spot or Pedal Power ISO5

Getting my board together and need to power it. I love the price-point of the One Spot at $35 but a lot of folks recommend the Pedal Power stuff from Voodoo Lab.

I am looking to power:
Zoom G3 (effects loop) - 500ma power required
Boss TU2 - 55ma power required
Electro Harmonix Crying Tone Wah - 25ma power required
Line 6 G50 Wireless - 350 - 500ma power required

Now I hear the One Spot will be very noisy from some folks, others say its fine.

Suggestions? I am open to to other products as well. I have also read I may want the "current doubler" cable from Voodoo for my wireless. I expect I may have to run separate power for the Zoom.
 
Stick with what's tried, trusted and true... VoodooLabs all the way :thumbsup:

Actually just got off the phone with them. I may look into the Pedal Power Digital. It has 4 isolated 9v outputs rated up to 400ma each. The Zoom and Line 6, according to the nice fella at Voodoo Lab says that those only draw about 300-350ma max.
 
Man I'd seriously suggest biting the bullet and get the PP2+


My buddy has the iso5 and it just limits you way too much for if you ever want to expand your pedalboard...which you will :yes: ;)
 
If you are going to be running some pedals out front and some in the loop, you NEED to get a power supply with isolated outputs. This means Pedal Power ISO-5, Pedal Power 2+, Cioks DC-5, etc. Make sure the outlets are isolated! Otherwise, you'll be in ground loop hell. :doh:
 
I went though this not that long ago. Tried to go the cheapest route first with a One Spot and daisy chain cable. It was noisy. Probably because of running two things in the loop and two out front. Then I bought the ISO-5, but it's really only 4 9v outs and one 18v out(if I remember correctly) and I need 5 9v outs. Ended up with the PP2+ and all is good. Fits perfectly in my PT Jr and I have room to expand if I want to add more pedals. I bought it used( but unused) for $120. :)
 
Like I said in my second post, going with the Pedal Power Digital. I spoke with one of the guys at Voodoo and we went through my effects set up and he was familiar with all the pieces and their power draws. He recommended the Digital. He said that if I were to add more pedals, for $6 I can order a plug that will allow the 9v outputs to be shared and will still not cause ground loops and be quiet so adding more boxes will be ok.
 
I had a 1 spot and it worked for 1 pedal but 2 or more not so. Added more pedals and went with PP2+. No noise issues at all.
 
The diasy chain power supplies are fine if you are willing to work with the pedals that give you noise, meaning adding additional dedicated power supplies to those pedals. For me on my one pedalboard it got to be too much and I went from 6 power adapters to one Decibel 11 hot stone deluxe.

On my other pedal board, I have 2 poweralls and a TC power-all and they work fine without noise.

if you want the cheap route ;) 2 Onespots

daisy chain the Zoom G3 + Line6 wireless unit , it shouldn't cause any issues, given both are digital

and then a separate Onespot for just the Tu2 and Crying Tone wah

for more pedals i'd definitely look into something isolated but for the high current draw stuff, unless you're running delays with high amperage requirements + analog pedals you should be fine like that
