Power went out on Friday..

'Laying in bed after work after a knap, getting ready to goto the Gym.. 5:30pm, boom. OUT..
We got some snow, but not a ton. DTE said it was wind damage.. 24.5 hours latter, it come on.. It's 57 degrees on the ground floor. I'm sitting on a cold toilet in the dark and suddenly I can see again!

Nothing more boring in a tech world then not having power.. I oiled all my guns when it was daylight.. LOL Paranoid?
We're one catastrophe away from morphing into murderous monsters with weapons..

That and the bedroom computer I was surfing on changed it's BIOS to RAID and wouldn't Boot.. It took me a bit to figure it out.. More bullshit..

Funny thing at night with no power is that with cloud cover and snow on the ground, you can see just fine.. Somehow kinda creepy..

My power went from $0.085/kWh to $0.135 last month. It's okay though, we've only lost power twice in that time so I'm definitely sure the infrastructure is in place for a few million electric cars that the cream of humanity is pushing on us.

I’ve noticed lately that people seem to freak out without enough light and feel like they need headlamps and goddam bike lights that are brighter than a semi’s just to go down the street. And runners wear these neon safety vests like they’re jack hammering concrete on side of a highway even though they’re on a trail in a low traffic area. People these days are neurotic as hell.
 
Meh, going out to the vehicle multiple times to charge devices sucks. It was starting to get cold, so no heat was started to really suck as my nose was cold in the house..

The Water Heater is Gas tho. If I wanted a hot shower, it was there. But Biden want's to go all electric.. Yeah, all eggs in 1 basket is not the right move..

Mine went from $0.40/kWh to $0.55/kWh a couple o' months back. My bill rose 45% at the same time and after spending $70 on 'phone calls to the utility company ("13" number, which costs me a buck a minute), I still couldn't find out why the bill increase was disproportionate.

On top of the ridiculous fees the power cuts out or at least browns out fairly-regularly.

We used to get way more for our money, including more-reliable infrastructure services.

A shit ton of people around here are installing gas fired whole house generators.

As much as we pay for electricity these fuckers should be retroactively burying all the electric.
 
It doesn't bother me. We lost power on 12/23 last year. Came home from a gig out in the hills about 3 a.m to a pitch black neighborhood. My wife had the couch pulled in front of the wood stove. We stayed warm. This is aside from the '21 Alberta Clipper where we lost power and water for a week, with only short periods of service. I had a 100 gallon stock tank full of water that saved my butt. After that I installed a norwesco 1250 in case that ever happens again. Water and wood man.....

My favorite luxury is hot water and I can make that happen with a woodstove Today is the last day of special late deer season but with a whipping wind and a 33 degree high today I doubt I'll have any luck. I'm just hoping none of my pipes freeze up. I got the whole house leaking right now.
 
Yeah, Natural Gas needs to stay.. Didn't even talk about the Oven.. At least you could use the Cooktop to cook.

I'm a service guy and In Detroit that's how they heat their houses a lot of times because they are poor and the homes they live in have old ass furnaces that the new generation doesn't know how to or wants to fix. Contractors will go in and just say they need a new Furnace for big bux that they don't have... But they will still vote Dem that wants to take Gas away..

They’re moving around here. It’s still and currently 2 degrees. I just watched 2 big does and 2 yearlings grazing in a wood line about 30’ from me

I have bait out but it won't get above freezing today. I haven't seen a deer since a couple days ago so I suspect I probably won't today, unfortunately. The deer here are small and diminutive mostly so I don't think they can hack the cold the way fatter, larger deer can up north.

Whitetail ? 30 degrees is warm for them. These little yearlings and their moms were chilling and eating acorns for a good hour and it’s 2 degrees.
 
I can still catch glimpses of them meandering up the holler right now.
