Any recommendations for moderately priced powered desktop monitors?

Hey Steve!! I use the Tannoy Reveal series. I think they're great! Sounds great with my Kemper and music.

Hi Chad! I think we have similar taste so I will give these a try!

Moderately priced is a tricky word. In the world of monitors that means about $1300 for the pair.
I would check out the Dynaudio stuff if you want some of the best.
I have them and they are incredible.

I realized I left that a bit open ended after I made the post.. I am staying around the Tannoy price range that Chad mentioned, for now.. I will upgrade later to some high end stuff.

Steve, if you haven't purchased any yet, you should take a look at the JBL LSR305 speakers. They're really excellent.

Yamaha HS5 with the subwoofer is what I use and they're awesome.

I have the Yamahas with sub too and they sound killer !

Either Yamaha HS7 or JBL LSR308 are great bang for the buck monitors. Or if you can stretch your budget a little more I'd recommend Adam A7x.

I got the jbl 305s for a hundred a piece on black Friday. Nice. And I have owned a lot of monitors.

They need a sub tho if you are gonna mix.

Another vote for the Yamaha HS5 for desktop. I had the HS8's which had much better bass but they took a lot a space on the desk.
They are very reliable and sounds great for not a lot of cash.

Tannoy reveals sound good for the price. Just get the bigger ones.

JBL make some good stuff.

I have owned my KRK v8 II's for years and love them. Stay clear of the rokits.

I have hs5's and just recently got some used hs80m's. Love them both. Also have a used krk sub that really helps round it out. It's barely on but that's all I need. All other monitors I tried were too HIFI and bass centric, with scooped mids. The Yamaha's give you a great image of guitars, snare and vocals. But I used NS10's for years so it's what my ear likes. I will say the HS8's which replaced the HS80 are a little more bass friendly but have a noticeable scoop on the mids. They still sounded the most natural out of the demo room but I was lucky they had the hs80's there to do a direct comparison. If i hadn't heard the 80's I probably would have been happy with the HS8.

Dont be afraid of buying Used.

Another very happy JBL305 user (picked up a pair last year when GC was blowing some out).

Anyone know about the JBL LSR 6328P? There's some used ones at a Sam Ash near me. What's a good used price?

Scored a pair of Tannoy Reveal 802's on clearance for killer price!

Thanks for the input guys.
