So I swapped the 16ohm 2004 V30s out for a set of 2009 8ohm Classic Lead 80s. The results achieved were as expected and the cab sounds much better now. Clearer mids and lows. Very tight and responsive. Not blurry in the mids anymore and none of that congestion from the looser lows and beaming strident upper mids of the V30s. There is also noticeably less cone breakup, which although provides some warmth, it also contributes to the congested sound I've been referencing. IMO this cab is too tight and resonant for 4 rear loaded V30s. They get scrambled and overloaded sounding. This swap has greatly improved this cab's performance and sound. The cab is also now 8ohms. You'll notice a side handle missing in one pic. That's because the back panel is so tight on these things that I had to smack it out from the inside. (old trick)
