Depends on the guitar....I alternate between Dean MLs and LPs. I play the MLs sitting in a classical position and the LPs standing up.

I chose some of both as well, but truth be told I do most of my practising these days at band practice (lazy and lame yeah :() which means I'm mostly standing when I practice.

When playing at home I'm always sitting though.
this

so, now, mostly sitting!

to add something more though, i think this is great advice, and i follow it too, got it from an old teacher years ago:

Sitting in a more classical position, guitar up higher.

The teacher I have for the last year seems to really know his stuff. Always sit, metronome, record, review. When I get it down add whatever gymnastics I want to playing live. He calls it "adding your stage presence". Can't really argue with it. The last year helped me more than the previous 5 or 6.

trick is, stand up and play it, to make sure you can, as, chances are you won't be sitting during the actual show...especially make sure you can do all your wizardry standing up!!!

I play sitting in classical, traditional, lounging on the couch, laying in band, standing with it slung low, slung high, whatever... depends on mood, the guitar, and what is comfortable that that point in time. I do a lot of playing in classical position while posting here or surfing the web at my desk. But, I've always got a guitar nearby so I'm not really someone who sits or stands the same way every time.

Band Rehearsal, standing.

Home practice sitting.

Most of the time standing for me, sitting doesn't generally feel comfortable for some reason, guess I have been playing standing too long. Also, with my setup, my amp footswitch is not hear my computer at home, so there is no one place to sit and change the backing tracks and switch the amp.

Not in a band situation, so my playing is 100% sitting down. Standing up and playing feels kind of weird to me, I really should spend more time with it.

Practice at home = Typically sitting

Rehearsal or gigging with band = Always standing

Some of both, but my strap is set so that it's pretty much the same height whether I'm sitting or standing so it doesn't make much difference.

I always stand and whip my hair around practicing for the big stage.

I have terrible practice posture. My back begins to hurt after playing sitting up on the couch without any cushioning behind me. Sometimes I actually lay down on the couch with the Strat on my hip and my left arm off the couch. In a sense, I'm standing horizontally.

99% standing.

I learned to play while sitting, cross legged and hunched over the guitar in what I'll call a typical teenage posture. I had a really hard time switching to standing up so once I made the change I never sat down again. The only times I sit is when I pick up a guitar that has no strap (like in a store).

Define practice? LoL!

I stand when I play. If I'm tired, then sit.

Always stand unless Im just alternating between down strokes and triplets while watching tv.
And Ive never used one of those foot stools, doesn't seem very brutal.
