I'd sure love a time machine right about now.

There are some killer Mesa Boogies and Tom Andersons in there.

Any of you old farts shop there back in the day?

This was several lives ago - ha! I was part-owner of the shop and wired and programmed most of the rigs in the videos.

We had a great crew that all went on to continued success:
Shaun Tubbs
Glenn Pearce
Robert DeLeo
Michael Ciravolo
Vince Mendoza
Mike Hartung
Mickey Ames
Alan Cotton
Art Reno
and many more I'm surely forgetting.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Cheers,
B

That's awesome! I can't believe I've never stumbled across that video before.

lab sound used to be the mecca for guitar gear--a tone dreamland

visited the shop near knott's berry farm with zachman quite a few times and i think he bought his first 2290 and zion gtr there
i wanna say there was another short lived shop in sherman oaks, but that could have been a mesa store..near valley arts if i'm not mistaken

the rack brian put together for shawn that used to reside at the mesa boogie store in fountain valley was off the hook.

I bought my Boogie Studio Preamp from the Lab Sound that was in Van Nuys on Sherman Way near the 405 freeway.

I left the business in December 1989. At that time there were three stores: Van Nuys on Sherman Way; Orange County; and the last store opened was at the corner of Sunset and Gardner (now the Boogie Store).

My ex-partners eventually sold/turned the store over to Mesa/Boogie.

Yes, Brian and Art were ULTRA cool to me. I was a young kid (19), and they took the time and answered my questions and let me fiddle w/ the gear. I bought my MKIII Coli, Zion Radicaster, TC 2290, TC 0144, Rane SM26, from Lab Sound.

The rigs they built and programmed exposed me (for the 1st time EVER) to hearing the sound of the albums-- coming out of the amp speaker cabs in stereo, w/ the fidelity that the iconic gear is renowned for, and that changed EVERYTHING forever, for me.

Truly, it sent me off the deep end (In a good way), and I just kept going. :D

I still have the Zion, and I sold off the 2290 and 0144 that I got there, but still own and use (2) 2290's and have an 0144.

Thank you. I now own my own guitar store and try to pay forward the kindness that I was shown. So thank you. ;)

I bought a Boogie Mark III at Lab Sound on Sherman Way in the spring of '87.

Zach, which island are you on? I'm going to Maui in Feb. and would love to check out your shop.

I'm on Oahu, about 15 minutes from the Honolulu International airport.

That would be great, if you can make it by. I have the Big Rig living at the shop now, so if you can make it by, we can crank it up and have some fun.
