The way some of these sound was a little surprising. I didn't realize the rectos were that much more scooped than 6505+? I've owned both before and in my mind they sounded pretty similar but I guess not. The ENGL stuff sounds bad ass on here and that studio pre is

Seems like I wasn't as crazy as I thought when I felt like my triple rec has a more controlled bottom end than the dual recs I've had too.

My fav of the bunch was the Engl preamp with Marshall poweramp. The Mesa stuff had too much low end, and a couple of the others sounded a bit too scooped for me. Surprisingly, the software track at the end was my second favourite

I think we have the same taste. To me it was a tie between the ENGL preamp and the software. I have to listen again though because the first time that Invader sounded HUGE

Engl preamp for the win, have always wanted to try that thing, but not a fan of rack gear. Get one of those and a Torpedo Live and you are set though.

Engl Pre FTW. Soldano had something very different but cool going on. Mesa Pre was a muddy mess.

Engl E530 was the best of the bunch. I had one as my main rig for a few years coupled with a Peavey Classic 120/120 and it was killer.

Yeah I listened to it again when I got home and that Soldano was killer sounding. I know this will be unpopular but the Ibanez had a really cool chuggy thing going on until they started playing full chords and you couldn't hear any of the 4 top strings

Bass knob on the studio pre set WAY too high '8'. Needs to be at '2' at the most and then bring in the bass freq on the GEQ.

All sounded very decent apart from the Marshall. I thought the Ibanez was the surprise of that lot - tight low end and some good definition.

The Soldano was the tone I'd want.

Me too.

Surprising to me that I disliked all the Mesas. Engls were nice. Valvestate was very muddy, but didn't sound as bad as the Mesas to my ears.

I like the Mesa preamp most. But he don't know how to use it :D

Triple Wreck and the Engl Preamp were my favs for this material.
