What would you guys expect to pay, or think is acceptable to pay for a Mark III blue stripe and or green stripe. Im talking more about a head or a rack mount version.

Recently I purchased a rack mount mark III/ green stripe off GC used. It showed up and although looked to be in good condition the dirty Channel was wrecked. I can hear the potential though. I spoke with Mike B about repairing and modding to + specs but decided in the end to return it as I didn't want to find out it might be potentially un-repairable.

If anyone has one that they they're thinking about parting with let me know.

I grabbed an MKiii blue stripe DRG long head a while back for $785 to my door and it was in very good condition.

That's below the norm these days. Mostly I see them for 1100 or so, GC used or craigslist. For what its worth, I've owned a purple and red, and played a blue...they all sound almost the same..the Red having a bit more mid presence but can still get that scooped MTL tone easily. Not played a green though.

I agree that you're probably looking at $1k+ for these in head form. Interestingly, you can get the combos for less at times. I bought one for well under a thousand dollars, and then just relocated the chassis into one of the rackmount cases.

I have another I paid under $700 for that was original a rackmount that was converted to a head. I understand there are reasons to search the others out, but this is probably the least expensive way to get into them.

My black stripe and blue stripe do sound a fair bit different. However, I feel like I need to go through the black stripe and check everything. It may need some TLC.

I'm seeing average prices of heads move up into the $1100-$1200 range. Keep in mind that ALL the old ones need service if they are still stock. Factor another $400 or so in for this if you're taking it seriously.

I just had Mike B. go through my DRG long head red stripe (the most valuable III combination), and he also turned it into a III++ w/ the R2 volume mod while he had it. About $800 worth of work, it's dead quiet & good as new. Best III I've ever played before the mod, and now it's the best III I can imagine short of a Coli. I actually like it better in the band mix than I did all 4 of my C+. New reverb tank, new power tubes etc.. Anyway. I'd part with it for the right price but I haven't quite decided what that is. I've recorded a bunch with it lately.

If it is in good shape... $1300-$1500. Supply is low and demand is up.

they're certainly going up in value. in the last year or 2, i've seen them getting listed for a few hundred more than they used to be 5 or 6 years ago. i think the facebook mesa groups and boards like this, get the hype moving on amps like this, and they become more popular for a while. plus people are buying them up and sending them to mike b, in hopes of getting a the "C+" tone for (slightly) less.
