So i have an Airis effects TS9000 (ts clone with some mods) that i got some time ago from a forum. Thing works great with the regular clean boost settings (volume full, presence to taste and drive at 0 ) but the problem is that the volume knob as soon as it goes lower than full, starts to emit a very nasty hiss/noise. At zero and full pedal is as silent as any other overdrive, but any setting different than that creates massive noise, the closer you are to 12 o clock the more noise. This is specifically on the vol pot, the presence and drive function normally and dont add any offending noise. I'd like to get the pedal fixed as it sounds really good and its probably a simple fix, any ideas as to what could be the problem? Already tried emailing the company but the guy stopped answering after a few emails..

Hopefully you get this fixed but this quote right here.

I had been considering one of their pedals in the future but I am just tired of builders that do not stand by their product.

Well maybe since I am not the original buyer he will not want to mess with it. But I was not asking for a free repair so I don't know what the problem might be. :(

I might add that I also own a Savage Drive by the same builder, and it works awesome, and the inside wiring is neat as hell, highly recommended regardless support issues, i've had many overdrives by small builders and this one seems like the sturdiest and prettiest inside.

That is the one I was looking at, the Savage Drive.

I want to start testing out different tube screamers to see what was best for my amp. Suhr Koko V1 is on the top of the list. After I get everything I need that was going to be the first one I bought and just go from there.

It sounds like a dirty volume pot. I had a power amp that I ran at full volume all of the time. After a few years of doing this, and it just sitting in my basement, I decided to turn it down, to clean the pots really. It sounded like someone rubbing their ass on a live mike, just static and popping. I took it to a tech who was able to spray some cleaner in it, spun it off/on a few dozen times and it's mostly noise free now. Cheaper than replacing the pot. You can find the contact cleaner online or at Radio Shack. With that said, the pots that are in pedals are not very expensive, and if you can use a soldering iron, you can fix it fairly easy.

Can you use this cleaner on amps as well? I have a dirty master volume put but it is not from rubbing my ass on it.

I have some deoxit, but the pots seem to have some plastic covers...Ill try to get some cleaner in there and see if that fixes it ..

maddnotez ..The suhr koko is awesome. I have like 8-10 overdrive pedals and the koko is a keeper, probably my favorite. Also highly recommended: Bodenhamer bloody murder (IF you can find one), Airis Savage as mentioned, Green Rhino is pretty good, or a good ole TS-9

Deoxit will be your friend. Solves many an issue with jacks, pots, etc.

so sprayed the deoxit...helped a bit but still noticeable noise....maybe a new pot would help

Just in case anybody is interested, just got a reply from Airis, and he said he is willing to repair it, FYI.
