now that's out of the way...i profiled my amp during lunch (on a Stage btw)...seemed to work flawlessly. used a couple mics on a 212 cab.

at first attempt, i ran the mics in to my 2i2, then using the outputs on the back of the 2i2 over to the return 1/4" on the back of the stage. no dice... amp wasn't detected. i've got an obvious operator error taking place here... are the 1/4" outs not doing what i think/thought they would do?

either way, i ran the mics into a small 8 channel board i've got in lieu of..., and /1/4" out to the Kemper return...bodda-bing, bodda-bop!

would like to know why scenario one didn't work out...I've heard/believed the pre-amps on the scarlet are better...

thanks for any input!

I had a Chandler TG-2 for awhile and it didn’t sound as good as straight into the Kemper. Could be part of their algorithm.?!.?

so when i profiled my amp...listening back, it sounds like it was clipping a little. no meter to gauge the levels... i don't recall seeing any "red" whilst sampling or profiling, yet...clippage. any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations?

There is a setting on the 2i2 to make it standalone as a direct in and out (not the same as when interfacing with a DAW)- make sure that is set right

In the Kemper return, there is an input level. This does not have to be perfect as it will reset automatically, but you do want to have this in the ballpark of a good signal that is not clipping

An external preamp such as a Chandler should be an improvement. I profile straight into the Kemper but have also used many high level pramps with great results. It's real easy to screw up a gain stage somewhere or have things set wonky, but in general, a great preamp should be a wonderful addition to the profiling process.

There are a lot of variables at play, some amps seem to profile translate better than others- or maybe I dialed it in better?
Also make sure there is no gate anywhere in the chain. Funny, the Peavey Ultra Plus amp actually does not work in this process as either there is an internal gate in the Peavey or the Kemper is interpreting it as such- this is confirmed by CKemper- some amps do not profile (very few)

Hope any of this helps

did not know the 2i2 would do what you are describing...

no way to profile "Straight" into the stage, IIRC..

thanks for the help man!
