best digital or analog programmable EQ's?

the do's, and donts?

if possible ive been keeping an eye out on a model that is preferrably racked - however pedals will do as long as MIDI in/out/thru is supported.

i found the DEQ830 from alesis, anyone have any testimonies on this model?

maily looking for a versatile racked EQ that can be programmable, but not suck the life from your tone.

discontinued? :aww:

i heard someone (rane?) or however you spell it, bought out the rights to that circuit and builds them now?

cant find any specs on the MQ-1 either, anyone know if its 24-bit or THD < around .005%?

Someone was saying they sell for big money now, I got mine on Ebay many years ago for 150 dollars.

it's the rane MPE-14.

I have one.

BUT............

I like my TC 1128 more. Unbelievable piece of gear.

god i love this place, thanks for the help guys

keep them commin if there are any other testimonies

I just bought one of these. With everything straight up 12:00, it sounds great and takes a little of the bite off. Haven't began to figure out all the tweaks yet for the Mesa's....

I had the Rane, didn't dig it too much. YMMV. From what I know it's the same as the MQ-1, just looks different.

This, I am using a TC 1128, great EQ, you can find them used every now and then.

wow i think we have a winner. that 1128 looks phenominal.

THD is >.002% which is better than the units im looking to expand to in the future, and i LOVE the fact that it is guaranteed to be 100% flat EQ from 10Hz to 100,000Hz when the unit sliders are set at normal operation and/or completely bypassed.

edit:
do they make a model that can do stereo?

what i may do if they dont, is simply run an MXR 10 band up front, and run the 1128 down the road for the stereo rig before the signal is split L and R.

Another recommendation for the TC 1128. I will tell you from years of pro experience with dozens of EQs, try not to waste your time with a 'digital EQ'. You are MUCH better off with an analog EQ that is digitally controlled. The TC 1128 is a fully programmable ANALOG EQ, which is why it always gets great votes for guitar use. I've owned an old DOD, an ADA MQ1, a couple of Ranes, even an extremely expensive Klark Teknik DN3600. All of which of course function very well, but they all kill the life, tone, and dynamics of a tube guitar rig being that they have digital filters, instead of analog filters.

How much does the TC go for used ?

I paid about $250 a year or 2 ago. It's been in my rack since. I stupidly tried to sell it a year ago, then messed with it some more and decided to hold on to it.
